Numbers-Our Daily Challenge-01/30/2011

A cheat sheet I use for fiddle. All keys arranged in circle of 5th order, numbers are all fret numbers of where the 1, 3, 5s are on a given chord.

Numbers and Hashmarks are on the field (8/12)

This is my latest “art journal” I really get a hoot at that expression as I have said umpteen times I have been journaling since I was 12 and have every journal….a.nd they have certainly involved over the years and I must have at lest 10 types of different journals……but I do have to say it takes my love of altering books and makes them , well maybe not , but I love to alter books…and cut paper but I want to start sewing again…so anyway here is my latest art journal….and that is not to say that there are not others around that I write in all the time…..or paste photo’s and make little vingettess …..anyway I hope you enjoy…..they are real as it gets

Bored drivers are a threat to others existence.

I was bored when I was coming back from Lansing and saw round numbers coming up on my odometer.

Good thing for autofocus this time. I didn't spend more than two minutes composing this shot while driving.

Numbers are usually printed both in "Arabic" numerals and in Arabic. "2" looks like a mirror-image "7"; "9" looks like nine, and "8" looks more like a tent.

El Sobrante is a bedroom community in SF’s East Bay, with most homes built in 1960s–70s.

Panels with cute (custom?) routed numbers housed in rails that echo the ornamental roof border.

This part of our urban landscape fascinates me because it’s an underdocumented aspect of environmental “typography”. They aren’t printer’s fonts, but prefabricated letters used by architects & builders. Each product was made only within a specific era, giving a locale a sense of history, just as architecture can.

One way to trace the origins of prefab letters is through trade catalogs. I made an Internet Archive list: archive.org/details/@stewf/lists/1/prefab-architectural-l...

I like the segmented numbers on my dermatologist's office building.
