These wage cups used to be used in Crowther's Crimble Mill, Slaithwaite arond 1900. Each worker had a number and wages would be put in the corresponding pot for collection at the end of work. These are on show at the Tolson Museum, Huddersfield.

This was mostly her idea, and a fun, quick little project we worked on together. She loves playing with dominoes so I suggested we use the same colors and patterns for each number as are on the domino tiles. And lately I've heard her trying to use/figure out the ordinal numbers, saying things like "twoth" instead of second, so I wrote them all out across the top.
The construction of the Claerwen dam was the last of the dams in the district, took six years, using a workforce of 470. The improved techniques and use of modern machinery meant that large scale civil engineering projects no longer needed large numbers of manual workers.

The 2nd annual Meath Spring Half Marathon (sponsored by Generali PanEurope) was organised and held at Bohermeen AC, Ardbraccan, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday March 3rd 2013 at 12:00. A 5KM race was also held on the day. This year a very large crowd of over 1,000 athletes turned out to compete on the day. The race has already increased in numbers since last year. Overall, this was a fantastic event and brilliantly organised by one of Ireland's oldest and most famous athletic clubs. The race is very well positioned in the running calendar for those who are preparing for a Spring Marathon.
The weather was perfect for 5KM and Half Marathon running with many personal bests and goals achieved for many people in both races.
This is a selection of photographs of the 1st lap pass of the finish and then the finish of half marathon. There are some 5KM photographs. Unfortunately we only had one camera on course today.

I ran the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set!
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information below.
If you want to contribute something for these images?
We do not charge for these images. We take these photographs as our contribution to the running community in Ireland. If you feel that they are good enough that you would ordinarily pay for their purchase we would suggest that you can provide a donation to any of the great charities in Ireland who do work for Cancer Care or Cancer Research in Ireland.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible.
Please note: that we cannot be responsible for the content of any external links (outside of our Flickr account) as we have no control over them. Links are provided for your information only. Responsibility lies solely with the operators of these websites.

Stacie Krajchir-Tom
24" x 18"
Retail Value: $1400
Stacie Krajchir's paintings incorporate words, numbers, lists, recurring personal symbols, colors, circles, and lines that translate her unique stream of consciousness. The compositions richly layered surfaces and hidden paths chart her continuing quest for self-knowledge. Stacie’s work has been described as “little maps for the psyche.”
As a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Stacie had the opportunity to study under a handful of well -known California artists, including Richard Shaw, Katherine Sherwood, Wendy Sussman and Drew Beattie. While studying at Berkeley, Stacie spent her time working in a variety of mediums; sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, and painting. "Sculpture satisfied my need for greater physical interaction, ceramics taught me to have courage, and through print making , my obsession with texture, paper and words were satiated. Eventually, painting just happened".
Krajchir says her work is meant to encourage the viewer to slow down . "We live such fast paced lives, sometimes we forget to stop and remember." Her work has been featured in a variety of solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally.
Now residing in Los Angeles, California she continues to develop works of art which reflect a rich and complex relationship to words, imagery and raw emotions. "Painting is like that moment in childhood, when you get to play with all your favorite toys at once."
Famous Irrational Numbers In the mathematical field an irrational numbers are the real numbers that can’t be expressed in a fraction form. In a simple meaning an irrational numbers cannot be represented as a rational form. Irrational numbers are those real value numbers that can’t be represented as terminating or repeating decimals. If we look at the history of famous irrational numbers, it is invented by the hippasus (a student) when he was trying to calculate the root of 2 as a fraction. In a more generic way irrational numbers means NOT rational. Rational numbers can be written as a ratio of two integers.
