Day 146 - 365 Velvet 56 Project
Went on a scavenger hunt for numbers today thanks to a photography prompt. Found some good ones.
The numbers are significant meaning absolutely nothing - maybe, I wish it was my age! Anyway, Lewis has some of these hanging about our home so a couple came in useful for today's challenge!
Our Daily Challenge ~ BEGINS WITH N .....
Thanks, in advance, to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... thanks to you all.

Shelves and shelves of colorful shoes can only mean one thing... Bowling!
Ever play some Candle Pin? You use three balls which are smaller in diameter with no finger holes, leave the dead wood, score in columns not rows. Found often in New England.
I was in my early to mid-teens before I did some regular bowling.

I can't think offhand of something from my childhood that sunk it's teeth in me more than this cryptic "carving". I learned much much later that it is the product number of the School Days Desk...but sometimes I wonder, would they even bother with such a detail these days? Would I love street art and graffiti as much if not for this simple addition to one of my prized childhood possessions?
ODC: VARIETY...of dice and color.
7 DOS/Week 36 ~ Numbers. Technique Tuesday. Some blur and color dodge applied.

For Macro Mondays group, theme "numbers".
I wanted to make a long exposure macro, this was in a dark room, the only light is coming from the numbers of my cell phone... it remembers me I need a new one :)
Posting a little late because I was out for the holiday in Brazil... but I didn't peek the other photos on the group before taking my own :)

A street of multi-coloured houses in Bristol that overlook the city harbour and docks, on a particularly grey and gloomy day.
They partly remind me of multi-coloured beach huts and also of those 'paint by numbers' sets I used to have as a kid with the number system used to produce a 'stunning' oil painting.
Still posting the oldies, due to lack of light and inspiration!

I've been munching on these little babies while i've been working at home. You can get 3 bags for a quid at Sainsburys.
They're good but they aren't nearly as good as the amazing JellyBabies they sell at the Fir Tree on Iffley Road. I just can't find Jelly Babies like that anywhere.

The Yellow-legged Gull (Larus michahellis), sometimes referred to as Western Yellow-legged Gull (to distinguish it from eastern populations of yellow-legged large white-headed gulls), is a large gull of Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, which has only recently achieved wide recognition as a distinct species. It was formerly treated as a subspecies of either the Caspian Gull L. cachinnans, or more broadly as a subspecies of the Herring Gull L. argentatus. It is named after the German zoologist Karl Michahelles.
It is now generally accepted that the Yellow-legged Gull is a full species. The breeding range is centred around the Mediterranean Sea. In North Africa it is common in Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia and increasing in places. Recent breeding has occurred in Libya and Egypt. In the Middle East a few breed in Israel and Syria with larger numbers in Cyprus and Turkey. In Europe there are colonies all along the Mediterranean coast, and also on the Atlantic islands and coasts north to Brittany and west to the Azores. It also breeds on the west side of the Black Sea; here it overlaps with the Caspian Gull but there is a difference in habitat, with the Yellow-legged Gull preferring sea cliffs and Caspian Gull on flatter shores. In recent decades birds have spread north into central and western Europe. One to four pairs have attempted to breed in southern England since 1995 (sometimes hybrid pairs with Lesser Black-backed Gulls), though colonisation has been very slow.
Many birds remain in the same area all year round but others migrate to spend the winter in mild areas of western Europe or head south as far as Senegal, the Gambia and the Red Sea. (wikipedia)
The species is quite common along the Portuguese coast. There was a big evening roost of YLGs on the local beach near where we were staying this summer. A handful of Audouin's Gulls were also in amongst them.

I videotaped Hadley lecturing for the online classes he teaches. I then made the display name a two-digit number for the chapter, a two-digit number for the order, and a literal name. Some of the chapters have 20 video lectures and it's essential that the student know which one to do first and so on. Some IT tech at our campus stripped my numbers off the names and I am now having to go back and decipher which one goes where. (I started with the last chapter. Makes no sense, I know!) School starts one week from tomorrow. This is not good.
Oh well, I get to sit in my big chair and enjoy the rain.
