Today in my garden. This is the warmest November 1st in my country ever.
The first snow often falls in the second half of November, but it seems to me that this year will be different.
November brings new snow on the mountains, reminding us that we will soon be in winter's grip.
"She stands in tattered gold bits of amber and jade.
Jewels of a year grown old: November.
~ Zephyr Ware Tarver
“November--with uncanny witchery in its changed trees. With murky red sunsets flaming in smoky crimson behind the westering hills. With dear days when the austere woods were beautiful and gracious in a dignified serenity of folded hands and closed eyes--days full of a fine, pale sunshine that sifted through the late, leafless gold of the juniper-trees and glimmered among the grey beeches, lighting up evergreen banks of moss and washing the colonnades of the pines. Days with a high-sprung sky of flawless turquoise. Days when an exquisite melancholy seemed to hang over the landscape and dream about the lake. But days, too, of the wild blackness of great autumn storms, followed by dank, wet, streaming nights when there was witch-laughter in the pines and fitful moans among the mainland trees. What cared they? Old Tom had built his roof well, and his chimney drew.”

ICH WAR HEUTE NOCH EINMAL AN DEM SENF-SONNENBLUMENMISCHFELD.
Die Blütenpracht ist vorbei, aber ein gewisser Charme besteht immer noch.
Einen stillen Gedenktag allen!
November storms with high winds came through our area yesterday - many people lost power, but luckily we still have ours... so far!
Near the river I found some beautiful November colours.
Oranges, burgundies, browns and pale yellows.
Près de la rivière j'ai vu de belles couleurs de novembre. Les oranges, bourgognes, bruns et jaunes pâles.
Think of the beauty still left around you and be happy.
I love this guitar solo ~♥~

The flooded dead trees stand in a cold wind late one evening at Long Pond Ironworks State Park, New Jersey. The forests in this area were once made bare to furnish charcoal for the furnaces.
We're doing a 10x10 evening at our camera club in about a week's time where 10 members each present 10 of their photos and speak a little bit about each one. The idea is to choose 10 pictures that conform to a theme or a personal interest, if possible. I'm going to put in 10 images on the theme of vintage lenses (I know, what else, right?). So tonight I was going through a load of folders looking for images I could use in my presentation and I ran across this one which I'm sure I haven't seen since I processed it back in November. it was taken with one of the old Russian Helios lenses on my full frame Sony body. But what struck me was just how colourful the scene was and just how pleasing the colours rendered by that old manual lens are. Well, to my eye at least. You may disagree. Anyway, not sure it will make my 10x10 selection but thought I'd post it as otherwise I know I'll just forget about it again and it may never see the light of day again!

On Saturday we drove down for a walk at Foggintor and Swelltor quarry. The forecast was overcast but dry and for the first half of our walk that was true. It later felt like the clouds are coming down to meet the ground and we had quite the Dartmoor experience walking in the misty landscape of abandonded ruins and barren granite.
For those interested, here a link to a video I made from that walk: youtu.be/4igRPi1W_b4
Another look at November and her washed out, dullness. There is a kind of mood in the month though, if one surrenders to it, that becomes the urge to poetry and reflection. November is a pause before the stone cracking discipline and icy purging of Winter, a kind of pause for remembering, recounting, reconsidering the year that's now winding down.
As oppressive as it might seem, November has its gifts, despite it's spartan colouring and dimness of light. But that requires an effort of sorts, however gentle, a will to go within. Whereas Summer floods itself all over us, November steps back and bids us to come to her for her secrets.
