There once was a time when any transport enthusiast could recognise a bus which had been built to 'Nottingham style'. Whether the effect was visually pleasing is very much a personal thing, but one thing's for sure, they were certainly individualistic. Since the mid 1960s the Municipal operator had standardised on Daimler's Fleetline and Leyland's Atlantean for it's double deck needs, all of which save for a very small number of stop-gap Park Royal bodied Atlanteans had had the operator's quirky styling.
With the cessation of the Fleetline and later the Atlantean, more modern designs had to be trialled. Examples of Volvo's double deck version of the B10M, the 'Citybus' or D10M seating 88 as above made an appearance. Leyland's rare but equivalent 'Lion' with mid mounted TL11 was purchased in small numbers and perhaps the most unusual, two of Dennis's new Falcon V with rear mounted Mercedes V6 engines. One of that pair can be seen here, behind the Volvo.

Nottingham, Railway Station. Built by the Midland Railway in 1848 and rebuilt in 1904 to the design of Albert Edward Lambert, with much of the current building dating from that later date. Grade 2* listed and currently run by East Midlands Railway, with addition services from Cross Country and Northern Trains. Despite being a through station, many trains terminate here. It was restored in 2011-14 (Building Design Partnership) and suffered a fire in 2018, the area has since been restored again.
