Nottingham Elite Cinema. Designed by Adamson & Kinns and opened in 1921 with 1,477 seats in stalls and balcony. It was taken over by ABC (1935) and closed in favour of bingo in 1977 which lasted until 1985. Sadly the auditorium was destroyed in a conversion to shops and offices but the Grade 2 listed exterior has been restored to great effect.

Nottingham, Exchange Arcade. The Council House and Exchange Arcade replaced an earlier Exchange on the same site. It was designed by Thomas Cecil Howitt in the Neo-Baroque style, built between 1927 & 1929, and is grade 2* listed. Each shop has its own basement showroom or storage facilities, deliveries being made via an underground roadway, served by a vehicular lift on Cheapside. The Murals in the dome were painted by Noel Denholm Davis. and depict:-

Class 45 no. 45139 prepares to dive under Carrington Street bridge and the Midland Station concourse as it arrives into platform 5 at Nottingham with a MML working on 2nd April 1977. It wasn't an especially long dive, but long enough for the Guard to switch the carriage lights on when he remembered.
