Nottingham, Old Market Square. Late on a Winters day the sun finally broke through, giving some lovely reflections in the fountains. Many of the buildings around the square are listed, including the Grade 2* Exchange. The fountains were designed by Kathryn Gustafson and were completed in 2007, at the west end of the refurbished square. Posted on 1st December - the day Debenhams went into receivership.

Nottingham Coaches operate three out and back services to Gamston Morrisons on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This view sees former Stagecoach Dart GX53MWF on its way past the war memorial in Tollerton with the Morrisons-bound S3.

The Old Market Square again.

I don’t even remember having taken this photo, probably because it wasn’t very good, but at least it’s one showing X227 FBB in a clean state, as opposed to covered in grime in the dampness of early February. Presumably it’s off to do a school route having just come off the 17 a few minutes before, seen making a dash along the A52 with the slip board still in the windscreen. In a photo taken from a 36 (or possibly even a Y36) it rounds Priory Island while heading towards Nottingham along Derby Road.

Leaving Nottingham Midland is Peak class 101. The train is approaching from the north bearing the code 1E06, having just started railway photography and had taken 82 leaving northbound with the same code I was confused...

101 was built at Crewe and entered service as D10120/05/1961, it became 45061 under TOPS 07/1975. It was withdrawn 16/08/1981 and cut at Swindon 01/04/1982.

... next to the Rock Cemetery in Nottingham. I took this photo in colour and later decided to change it to B&W using an old version of Nik Silver Efex Pro 2 (which is linked to Photoshop Elements 11 on my PC).

Nottingham, Canalside. Opened in 1796 the Nottingham Canal linked the Cromford Canal at Langley Mill to the Trent Navigation at Beeston. Closed in 1937 the Nottingham length forms the centrepiece of the city's Castle Wharf area, redeveloped from the mid 1970's. This area, formerly the home to quays and warehouses, has been re-imagined with waterside bars and restaurants in the old warehouse buildings. Normally bustling, these images were taken during the 2nd Coronavirus lockdown when many of the businesses were closed. The British Waterways Warehouse is Grade 2 listed. My first use of the new PhotoShop sky replacement!

It could have been a bit sharper if I'd used a tripod. :-)

Nottingham City Transport operated twenty seven Leyland Lynxes in both Mk 1 and Mk 2 guise. The Mk 2 was easily spotted on account of its protruding front 'snout', so extended to take the larger Volvo intercooler when that manufacturers engine was offered as an option in the late eighties.
