One of my attempts at this weeks "Smile on Saturday" theme "Nothing in focus"

Shot with a Tomioka "Macro-Yashinon 60 mm F 2.8" lens on a Canon EOS R5.

Am still experimenting

The Looking Close on Friday group’s theme for 8/27 is to create a close up black and white picture in which nothing is in focus. And I was determined to use my cellphone’s camera - at this point the 6 month experiment is now in its 8th month!!

But the thing about cellphones is that they want to *fix* your focus. So we’re smarter than our smartphones, right? A couple of the experimental ones are with a very thin plastic bag covering the lens.

There are more than eight b&w pictures in my photostream from experimenting and i created an album. And i'm not about to give up yet! Thank goodness green animals is/will be an easier theme (SoS).

Birmingham Town Hall gets the nothing in focus treatment. It is another structure that features many times in this 52 weeks project.

Time flies. 2009 is gone.

Drove past the controversial Lenin statue in Richmond and took a shot from the car. Nothing is in focus and this is breaking the rule #1 of photography i.e. you should get at least one point of your picture in focus.

Wish everyone a great year of 2010!

Bitten by the square bug and in hunger of bright colors. When I walked past these little yellow flowers on the street last weekend, I can't help took a few shots with almost nothing in focus.

It is basically a bokeh picture. Most of the photographers are obssessed with bokeh. We spent hundreds or thousands in the lenses to get the perfect bokeh.

Happy bokeh day!

Specifically for Clem, who loves my bokeh balls...

Is this better Brad? ;)

Nothing on focus but somehow I loved this picture. Maybe its just me.

Yeah, I know. It's just an out of focus photo. But I really liked the patterns and color. I was shooting frost for Macro Mondays and this just caught my eye. I couldn't resist. It's actually the sun reflecting off the frost on a black plastic surface. You'll see the in focus version on Monday. For now, embrace the bokeh.

I like it when I focus on everything in general but nothing in particular.
