I sat on a bench this morning and after I'd walked away I realised I didn't have my notebook in my pocket. I hurried back and there it was, lying on the ground.

Painted Traveler's Notebook, A4. A5 and Reguslar size ...

flying in the face of stormy weathers, coming through heavy waters and emerging as a figure of beauty on the other side

Japanese stationery giant KOKUYO launched the Systemic series of notebook cover since Nov 2008. I totally missed this new product range but when I was in a trip to Shanghai meeting KOKUYO representatives there, I saw a nice leaflet for Systemic and enquired about it. A few days ago I received samples and found them very pleasant to use.

The Systemic series has 3 sizes (B5, A5 and A6) and two colors to choose from. Although the cover is specifically designed for Campus notebooks in the same sizes, I found that the A5 and A6 versions also work well with Moleskine's large and pocket size notebooks!!!

It is really a simple non-intrusive notebook cover. You can insert any two of the wide variety of Campus notebooks in it. The Campus notebook line also has free or dated diary versions so it can easily be used for business or personal. A nice looking ribbon tied to eyelets makes two bookmarks. An outer pocket on both the front and back cover provides temporary storage and act as a pen holder. A good quality elastic band provides enclosure function.

I think it is a great answer to many people who like to consistently use a refillable notebook but need an outer jacket/cover to hold more items or have a better presentation. To Moleskine fans who are yet to find a nice cover, this might be an answer too.

New charm for the large Traveler's notebook

I was originally enrolled as a SHUTTERSTOCK contributor on January 28th 2019. Shutterstock is an American stock photography company with headquarters in New York City, founded in 2003 by Photographer Jon Oringer. With a library in excess of 200 million royalty free stock photographs, I am delighted, and most grateful to have been accepted into the fold.

Having been passionate about photography since the age of seven years old, with a box brownie and black and white 120 roll film, these days I take a far more leisurely approach to my photographic exploits, a Nikon D850 FX Pro body as my trusted companion, I travel light with less constraints and more emphasis on the pure capture of the beauty that I see, more akin to my original persuits and goals some five decades previously when starting out. I would like to say a huge and heartfelt 'THANK YOU' to GETTY IMAGES, SHUTTERSTOCK, and the 28.141+ Million visitors to my FLICKR site.

I've been searching for a perfect little notebook for all my needs, most serve the note taking purpose but lacks photo journaling features, GTD elements, or refillable with nice leather covers. I have a passion for Moleskine and Traveler's Notebook, but a product with the combination of their features, in addition to some of my own note taking practice, is difficult to find. So I set out to play with some customizations and adaptations on scrap materials.......

Day 5, The August Break, 2013 - { close up }

There's always something quite special about starting a new notebook. It fills me with a sense of oportunity and endless possibility, a feeling of excitement about what could happen. It's a simple act that holds so much potential.

A new, smaller journal. I hand-bound it myself and added the tabs for a little bit of fun. They're more like placeholders, so I can get to where I'm working easier.

Each day, I get a little better. I cough a little less and I feel less sore. I can feel my body healing and I'm managing to ween myself off of medication. It's difficult to go outside so I'm staying indoors and resting.

This morning, I laid in bed and read Paul Auster's The Red Notebook. I love Paul Auster and this was the perfect book for my friend Herb in NYC to send me a few weeks ago. It's full of stories of life's coincidences that happen between New York and Paris. In each life, there are so many things that add up which can't really be summed up...things that seem so random and things that make us who we are. I really enjoyed reading about Auster's life experiences.

I wish I could photograph him.

January 24th - Saturday. Second day of strategy residential. It was a very good meeting although I was pretty exhausted afterwards.

Not too tired though to celebrate Burns Night. I had haggis and drank scotch and attempted to read some Burns and toast the haggis. Not everyone joined in!

Reasons to be cheerful

1. My first whisky session in at least 9 months. Nice.

2. Haggis.

3. Successful 2 day meeting.

I just found that Shanti asked whether Midori's Traveler's Notebook is acid free or not in Dec 2007! She got the notebook as a Christmas gift from her husband and wondered if the notebook can preserve her diary/writing forever.

So I did a test tonight with pH testing pencil and to my surprise....

Well, the paper is acid free but the notebook cover is not! Rest assured that the inside pages of the refill can keep your content in near archival quality, just don't put any important stuffs on the cover or the pages touching the cover if you are meticulous about preservation. Side note: friend at KOLO album told me that in some cases the paper can be acid free in the beginning but as time goes by, the trace lignin inside the paper can make the paper goes yellow and further deteriorate.
