Musical notes: Scattered around the market are 18 musical notes painted on walkways, where registered musicians and performers entertain. They stay for an hour at one spot, then move, so you never know where they will be. The chance to perform for a street crowd so appealed to Hilary Hahn, a virtuoso violinist in town to play with the Seattle Symphony, that she got a permit to perform at the market.

It's not always music. I watched a card sharp perform tricks by identifying cards. Since he was selling decks of cards that made his tricks possible, he revealed his secret. One side of the cards was shaved slightly narrower than the other side. When he wanted to find the four aces, all he had to do was insert them in the deck in the opposite direction of the other cards. Their width gave them away.

Unless you are an experienced herpetologist with a need to handle reptiles I don't recommend that you attempt to handle any kind of monitor. I wouldn't attempt to handle one myself except in an emergency. Although they lack venom they are very dangerous - they are a powerhouse of muscle and claws and use them to great effect. They also have plenty of bad bacteria in their mouth and since their bites are often very nasty you don't want to have to battle the subsequent infection.

One of the games we started at the Wynn was to leave notes for each other in the elevator bank. This is just one of many, and I swear some people took them because they thought they were funny. This was inspired by a private joke and meeting Nick Manning.

tourist train at danga bay by 相由心生

Tourist trains tell a lot about the state of an amusement park. A well-maintained tourist train naturally implies a well-managed park. On that note I am starting to worry about the condition at Danga Bay. Despite the ever-going saga of projects embracing the park, the trains looked more run-down every time I visited. In company’s accounting, lesser amount of repair and maintenance is not necessary a good thing, as that may imply that the company is buying new assets without at the same time taking care of the existing ones.

For many, riding on the tourist train is a must-do when visiting a park that has one. Unfortunately I didn’t feel the least tempted in my last visit. It’s not to say that I wouldn’t get on it even if you stick a gun to my head, but at least I wouldn’t sneak in for a ride when you are not carrying a gun, like I would for a more attractive one.

Insurance Note by * Notes

Note inserted on a separate sheet of paper with my new house insurance. It's the first proper evidence I've seen of the effect of the European referendum on me, directly - without directly attributing it to Brexit.

What it's saying is that I have bought a policy from a company that intends to move its head office from the UK to Luxembourg soon. This means if I have any complaints about their service, the local authorities will only be able to deal with a 'branch' of the company, not the company itself. To do that, I am obliged to consult one of three alternatives, two of whom I have never heard of (because my mother tongue is not French). It could also suggest various other things, but I will leave the viewer to decide what they are.

But what it says to me is that this is the thin end of the wedge. Expect to see more and more of this, particularly as your various insurance policies expire. How are we 'taking back control', if all the smart money is shipping out?

Trim & I just attended a FABULOUS agility seminar by Ronda Carter from the US. I find it hard to write notes at seminars as I take more in by listening.

It seems Trim is the same...she hung on to Ronda's every word.

Let's hope we can do her teaching justice with our training. We'll certainly be trying our best!
