Iron Forge Round 2
There’s been too many great entries to note... but I felt like it was my cue to come in. This one deserves a high score!

Music note on a granit block.
This shot was taken where the Ireland Anthem compositor was born. On Dorset Street.
Following on from yesterday's scene-setter, this is the first of this spring's occasional photos showing what remains of the rural Texas Gulf Coast plains. The photo was taken a mere five miles from the previous post "Darkness at the edge of town".

I think ipernity offers a good visual environment. I wish more of you folks would come over...

This girl took notes in a shopping mall, deep in contemplation. It looks like absolute silence but it was a very overcrowded situation. I had literally a second to compose and shoot.
This past Saturday I woke up at the crack of dawn to attend a photowalk in San Francisco's China Basin/Pier 96 area. I don't think I've ever been more glad to have had to wake up so early! The walk was a lot of fun, and I got to meet and interact with a bunch of fellow photo enthusiasts. This was my second photowalk ever (and the second in a month). I think I'm hooked. Much of my photo-taking is done on my own. That's not necessarily by choice, but I do enjoy the solitude of being out on my own snapping photos of landscapes. What I've discovered by adding the social element of the walk is that I am learning from others. Let's face it, on a photowalk you get a lot of people taking pictures of the same exact thing, but what's fascinating about that is that everyone's take is different. So you get a nearly immediate multiplicity of versions of the same scene, each as seen through a different photographer's eye -- it's pretty fascinating how different the results can be.
If you have a chance to go on a photowalk, I highly recommend it. Flickr sponsors lots of photowalks throught its parnership with MeetUp. Give it a try and see what you think.
I hope everyone's having a great week so far!

I've been kinda fed up with my Winter weight sticking around through Summer, so I made myself a little motivational poster to hang by my door. It works! Sometimes....
