A disappointing sunrise but good to be out on the river before the tourists. I say this because as I was leaving a party of guided photographers arrived and seemed surprised that I was leaving. Within ten minutes the sky became clear blue and the light became harsh. So, for once, I made the right decision.

I'm no bird photographer, but when this friendly little chickadee was looking for food just above my head, I gave it a go.

After a tiring evening having guests over, she could finally rest and improvised a little nook in the plush cover on the top of the couch.

The Book Nook is your destination for good reads, expensive coffee, and expensive coffee.

The dunes at Donna Nook are the separation between the land and the sea, miles of flatness stretches out in front and behind. Donna Nook is a bombing range and the white squares in the distance are the huge targets on the beach.

This is the new reading nook.

I have been removing a lot of the clutter.

In addition to this corner, and just opposite it,

is my computer/desk area.

The majority of the room, however,

is being cleared of everything.

That larger section, about 8x11 feet,

is being readied for a VR experience.

Yes, I seem always to be excited

about the newest innovations in technology...

particularly as it pertains to new experiences

and a new source of photographic opportunities.

I will never apologize for dreaming

and for my vivid imagination.

But, we must keep things in their

proper perspective. We need an area

in which to read, and to contemplate...

an area in which to meditate and to pray.

It need not be fancy, it can be small,

but it is needed more than all the rest.

Welcome to my little corner of solitude...

welcome to my reading nook.

The peaks of snow mountains on bright mornings part the dense clouds and soar into the skies. Beneath the skies like a world submerged, lies a lost kingdom. Ladakh, the roof of the world opened to tourists only in the last decade. At an awesome altitude, this highland is the bridge between the earth and the sky!

Part fantasy, part reality... Ladakh, is where, the forces of nature conspired to render a magical unrealistic landscape... a landscape of extremes... desert and blue waters... burning sun and freezing winds... glaciers and sand dunes... a primeval battleground of the titanic forces which gave birth to the Himalayas.

Ladakh is a region in India totally isolated from the modern world. An authentic land, it is faithful to ancestral customs where life is characterized by intense spirituality. Even an Indian traveler will probably find no similarities in the land and people between the ones he leaves behind and those he encounters in Ladakh. Rich traditions of Mahayana Buddhism still flourish in the purest form in this region, which has often been referred to as Little Tibet.
