Now Boarding... Flight 2012, Nonstop Service to Venus!
The next scheduled flight will be in 2117!
I couldn't wait to get this one uploaded! As I was watching the transition of Venus across the Sun, this plane just happened to be in the right spot at the right time as I just happened to press the shutter release!
This will be the last transition of Venus across the Sun in our lifetimes! I hope you got to see some of it! :-) I am actually still in process of taking photos of it as I write this description!
I thought it could be used for the last theme in MM but eventually noticed that not.

The largest aircraft that lands at Lindbergh Field/San Diego International Airport is this Boeing 777-300ER, flight BA 273 nonstop from London's Heathrow Airport to San Diego. It amazes me that 11 hours before this picture was taken (at 6:30pm PST), the last time this plane was on the ground was 3:30pm local time in London, United Kingdom in Europe!
Picture is dedicated to Doug in Jacksonville, FL who inspired me to take aviation pictures with the airport so close to the city :) Of course, I started with the biggest plane that lands in San Diego, but I'm excited to capture the Edelweiss from Zurich, Switzerland (an Airbus A-340) and the Japan Airlines from Tokyo, Japan (a Boeing 787-8, which I've never seen before). Also, rumor has it that this British Airways flight seasonally changes to a Boeing 747, which I'd love to see.
This vibrant begonia looks ready for Christmas. Last year it bloomed in our San Francisco garden until the end of December

Not too far from Billings, Northern Pacific 4-8-4 2664 wheels along a freight near the end of the steam era in September 1956. The 1938 Baldwin built Northern would be retired and scrapped in 1958.

It’s so early in the season that in lower elevations the fall colors are still peak. Despite that, the winter has started in the Sierra Nevada mountains and snow fighters are out in full force. During an afternoon storm, a flanger set with UP 580 on point makes its way out of Truckee for the third time this day to make its rounds to Blue Canyon where they would turn back east to Truckee. These locomotives and crew have had little time to rest between trips with a crew change, waiting on Amtrak, and a refuel being the only things giving a rest between runs. A massive storm had come through in the previous days prior to this and even at the end of the storm the snow still was falling hard. Just earlier that morning, the ground was covered in snow until the sun melted it all, but after this last snowfall the ground would be white again.
I'm not a great fan of the zoos, I Love the animals in your environment, not in closed spaces or in jails, but is a great opportunity for take a different photos... =O).

Often flies nonstop to South America over the Atlantic, a distance of more than 3,000 km, during seasonal migration;flies in large flocks that change direction together, so that they resemble an aerial school of fish ;may double its weight in less than two weeks while feeding during the fall migration, sometimes becoming so heavy that it has difficulty taking off ;is never fed by its parents.
First time I saw this bird in the Lake in my area, must be stopping over for some food and rest while on their way towards their destinations.

I was in Baaastun… I mean, Boston, Massachusetts after literally a dozen years. It was a great successful speaking tour. Rain kept me from re-exploring and revisiting parts of the historic and academically significant city the night I was there.
It took me 12 years to come back here. Then it seemed like it would take 12 years more to get out of it! 😀

Qantas Airways Boeing 787-9 VH-ZNH takes off from London Heathrow airport for the 17 hour direct flight to Perth. This is currently the only non-stop flight from Europe to Australia and comes in at third in the list of longest flights in the world at present.
