Two invasive species in the same flower bed equals strong tensions and infighting. The struggle is real!!!

A Morning Glory vine embraces the flower of a Mexican Petunia.

This time the gates were open to the courtyard at the, now closed, Velvet Cactus restaurant from the last shot. Inside, I found this colorful bit of garden bling.

With just slightly cooler weather, it's Gardenia time again. Did you know that Gardenias were part of the coffee family of plants?!!

I did a bit of research, but couldn't find a good match for this tree moss. I'm a lazy researcher.

For the first time this year, the humidity was so high that my glasses, along with my camera lens, immediately fogged up as I opened the door this morning. You can almost see the heaviness of the atmosphere in this photo, taken after a long wait for my lens to de-fog.

A good Thursday morning to 'ya.

A new flower bud, before it opens into the brilliant red of a Texas Star hibiscus bloom. As the bud is roughly 1 1/2" tall, this just barely passes as a macro shot.

Have a good day, all.

Another view of my neighbor's Red Spider Lilies from the morning of the Autumnal Equinox. Have a great day, all!

Just keeping things simple...

The butterflies seem to love the Star of Texas blooms. It's hard to walk past without taking a shot or three.

Have a great Sunday, all... :)

I'm a bit late in my pruning chores, so it's time to start chopping!

Have a great Friday!

THANK YOU EVERYBODY

Since today is Dentist day for me, I felt this image appropriate...

This is the second of two old cars I found in the woods. The first one, that I posted earlier, I thought was a Plymouth Fury from around '59. It looks closely related to Christine, of Stephen King fame.

I discovered this morning, though, that it and this car are related, as both are of the Dodge DeSoto line. Apparently, whoever abandoned these autos was a DeSoto fan. This one is circa 1950.

Just a brief detour from the usual ruins, rocks, and sheep for a bit of 'art'. Taken on the same road featured in a previous post outside Mulranny, Co. Mayo, Ireland, I've boosted the amp up to eleven and modified the image in Lightroom and a touch of Photoshop. OK, everybody sing along...

I've been drivin' all night

My hand's wet on the wheel

There's a voice in my head

That drives my heel

It's my baby callin'

Says: I need you here

And it's a half past four

And I'm shifting gear

When she is lonely

And the longing gets too much

She sends a cable

Coming in from above

Don't need no phone at all

We've got a thing that's called Radar Love

We've got a wave in the air

Radar Love

The radio's playing some forgotten song

Brenda Lee's "Coming On Strong"

The road has got me hypnotized

And I'm speeding into a new sunrise

When I get lonely

And I'm sure I've had enough

She sends her comfort

Comin' in from above

Don't need no letter at all

We've got a thing that's called Radar Love

We've got a line in the sky

Radar Love

No more speed, I'm almost there

Gotta keep cool now, gotta take care

Last car to pass, here I go

And the line of cars drove down real slow

And the radio played that forgotten song

Brenda Lee's "Coming On Strong"

And the newsman sang his same song

One more radar love is gone

When I get lonely and I'm sure I've had enough

She sends her comfort, coming in from above

We don't need no letter at all

We've got a thing that's called Radar Love

We've got a line in the sky

We've got a thing that's called Radar Love

We've got a thing that's called

Radar Love

"The flowers of late winter and early spring occupy places in our hearts well out of proportion to their size."

... a few hours ago - I took that shot this morning ...

Apologies for my absence lately; I don't have as much time for Flickr at the moment as I would like to ... it turns out that 2024 will most likely going to be a bit bumpy and challenging at work. So I might be absent for some days every now and then.

I hope you are all doing fine ♡

And yes, I am longing for springtime and sunshine, too !

Happy (Flare) Friday ... and let's embrace imperfection : ))

The pigs, that is. Judging by the small size of this fenced area, I am assuming it was once used as a pig pen.

Smell that? That's pig slop. I love the smell of pig slop in the morning. ;)

HFF!!!

I wish those golden reflections were Fall foliage, but no...just some really bright, early morning light.

Cooler weather is on the way, though!

I didn't take many shots last year, but I have a few that I need to upload, so bear with me. Most are just random nature shots that I want to keep a record of.

Technically, not the best photo, but there is something I really love about this one.

We usually save the burn pile for Christmas, but we're expecting rain on Christmas Day and the pile just keeps on getting bigger.

Just in case...Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays to you all!!!

In a country far from yours, children are taught to balance 10 nuts with chopsticks before starting to eat. This forces the child to act with mindfulness before eating and predisposes him to eat with mindfulness as well. (Otherwise, they would eat the nuts without opening them.)

Es war ein wunderschöner Morgenspaziergang...

As many photos as I have of Irises, I can't let a Spring pass without taking a few more.

Have a great Monday, folks!

After all the searing heat we've had, we are getting a small bit of relief this week with a wave of lower humidity and slightly lower temperatures. I don't know if that is why, but the Gardenias have begun to bloom again.

I noticed the smell before I saw them.

I've been shooting at this usually swampy area a lot, because it's a rare opportunity to get closer to the cypress trees that grow here. What is usually 6" to a foot of water is literally dry enough to walk on.

Even the mighty Mississippi River is at record-setting low water levels, because of the long lasting drought. My Flickr friends up north may have some supply issues this Winter, because of this.

Another shot of the Aloe blooming before the first freeze arrives.

In a parallel universe, there is a version of Walt Disney who was born with a large wart on his forehead which, after a quick medical examination, turns out to be a leek.

This did not prevent him from drawing his famous mouse, Ricky Mouse.
