we were enjoying the evening sun and some downtime in one of our favourite outdoor restaurants ... of course with some refreshing beverage (I do love fresh mint leaves)
I was playing around here with the manual vintage Meyer-Optik Görlitz Oreston that's kind of screwed permanently onto my old Pentax K-70 body these days : )))

This is a blend of two images in post (overlayed):
The branches of a dawn redwood (main image / foreground) were taken with the manual vintage Meyer-Optik Görlitz Oreston 50mm f/1.8; that's also where the bokeh balls come from. And a frame filling macro with leaf veins, blended in as background.
Today, March 21, is International Day of Forests, so I thought this was the right time to finally upload this image

Caught this frame at Bempton Cliffs as the colony was in full swing. What fascinates me most about Northern Gannets is the sheer coordination—or sometimes the lack thereof—during a sea-cliff approach. As one bird glides in with wings perfectly spread, the birds on the ledge act like a ground crew, tracking its trajectory with sky-pointing bills.
Getting the exposure right on those brilliant white feathers against the dark North Sea is always a brilliant challenge. Pure field craft, patience, and waiting for that perfect split-second alignment.
Captured straight-out-of-the-camera with tracking focus. No AI, no digital manipulation—just raw nature as it happened.
In trying to clean up Lightroom, I keep running across old shots and different versions of shots that I've posted before that I should archive on Flickr.
Haven't had much time for shooting lately...involved with house repairs. Here's another early morning shot from the horse pond that's just down the road from my house.

Our Taiwanese Cherry Tree usually blooms twice, here in Louisiana. We almost always get a false start of Spring, with temps in the 80's, followed by at least a couple of light freezes that kill everything off...then Spring arrives.
This ornamental cherry tree is usually the first to bloom, but then blooms again (usually) later on.
Mother Nature getting aroused.
btw...even though this was taken with a dedicated 'macro' lens, this is NOT a true macro shot. Too many people confuse close up photography with macro photography. Google it and educate yourselves... :)
