Image location: GA-400 North at the toll booth. I'm to the left in the cruise lane...
The rig: Sony DSLR-A700 w/Sony SAL-1118 11-18mm f/4.5-5.6 DT Lens and Minolta RC-1000L remote control cord. The VG-C70AM Vertical Grip was used to provide plenty of power. Camera set to Aperture Priority mode, lens set to f/5.6, lens zoomed to approx. 15mm, manually focused to infinity and camera set to Continuous Bracketing ±2/3 EV increment/5 shots, auto white balance and ISO 1250. Due to the ever changing view and pin-point light sources involved, multi-segment metering mode was employed. Images saved as RAW. Camera attached to a Manfrotto Magic Arm attached to a Manfrotto Super Clamp attached to the passenger seat headrest bracket. The Nissan Frontier King Cab gave the extra room for the rig to be slightly behind me giving a wide view and occasionally catching myself in the shot.
Shots taken by simply pressing the remote release sitting in my lap as I drove…

Time to make a different thing from my usual style and to produce something with a driving beat.
For this track i used my Filterbank "Ebbe & Flut" which i use really rare. The audio quality isn't really professional and the track could be enhanced with some voise and synthesizer samples, but it's a live recording just for fun and i won't make a science of it. The beat and sound comes from the Roland MC-909. You're watching a nightdrive in Madeira, from Encumeada via Camara de Lobos via Funchal to Canico.
There was a soft hum, vibrating and hidden in the wires... it gets quieter every day. I’m different now.

An unforgettable evening with one of the most exciting and atmospheric driving experiences on the planet.
Recipe for fun: Prop the tripod between the seats, place remote release in your lap, drive, click enjoy. Shot somewhere between Boston and New Gloucester, Maine.

A first attempt at in-car, long exposure photography. Next time I'll try some different comps and camera angles. Oh, and clean the windscreen!
