The Oban Distillery is primarily known for its 14-year-old malt, which is marketed as part of Diageo's "Classic Malts Selection" range, launched in 1988. Also available is a "Distiller's Edition" bottling, which is finished in a Montilla Fino sherry cask before bottling. There is also an 18-year-old limited edition and a rare 32-year-old edition.

Let's go with the full back story. Carol is up in the Lakes on a hen weekend and Dave decided to take Robert up as well and stay in a reasonably nearby hotel. Sue and Matt are joining him at the hotel, and I went up for the day.
The hotel turned out to be Cragwood Country House which is a really lovely place with an amazing lake view.
We turned up at midday to bin one of the cars and find out what time check in was. Tom, the lovely assistant manager, suggested that if we had no plans we should check out the Lake District visitors centre next door.
This turned out to be Brockhole, which I've never been to, and home to possibly the bench with the best view in Cumbria!
