One of my new year's resolutions is to cook more at home...I have plenty of books to choose from, I just need to start using them!
Side note: I highly recommend "The Scandinavian Cookbook" (top shelf, far left) as a gift to anyone who likes to cook. Aside from some tasty looking recipes, the book has gorgeous photography and would make an excellent coffee table book.
I am still having issues with the autofocus on my camera. I am hoping that it is just low light or something I am doing wrong and not the camera itself. *sigh* Tomorrow I am going to play with it some more and see if I can figure out what's going on. In the meantime, sorry for the fuzzies.
[Macro Monday] One of my resolutions for the new year is to make better use of my time. My goal with this image was to show that time never stops, even in a photograph.
[Strobist] This is a 25 second timed exposure. I wanted to give the appearance of the watch hands moving so I popped a flash every 3-4 seconds during the exposure to freeze them. Had this been a constant exposure the result would have been more of a blurred effect
of the hands.
[Setup] Dimly lit room with reflector placed camera left. Manually popped an SB-800 into the reflector to stop the hands of the watch. Metered in-camera using a flashlight to mimic the intensity of the flash.
The expertise Kevin Vennesland gained in SFU Continuing Studies' Diploma in Applied Project Management has already made a difference in his career.
Vennesland’s manager is taking advantage of his new qualifications, giving him more responsibility.
“Taking the program has certainly boosted my confidence and will forever change how I manage projects and lead teams,” Vennesland said.
"There's no question that SFU Continuing Studies has helped me achieve my short term career goals. I would recommend the Diploma in Applied Project Management or SFU Continuing Studies to anyone who's interested in taking their career to the next level."

Okay, so one of my Resolutions was to be more healthy, seeing as I ate such junk throughout Christmas. I figured it would be easy seeing as I'm generally a pretty healthy person but if anything I eat MORE unhealthily than I did. Is it that my urge to rebel is so strong that I now start rebeling against myself?
Nah, I think I just like chocolate too much.

02/52 - "New Year's Resolutions"
I don't do resolutions, per se. They never last because I make them so vague or it's easy to ignore them as the year progresses. Back toward the end of 2015, I came upon a book called "One Word" which was basically about making a plan to live for a year using one word as a personal mantra of sorts.
I've decided to try it out to an extent for this year. The word I chose was "Breathe." Not because I have issues with performing a regular bodily function that keeps me alive, but rather it is a reminder to slow down; to not allow myself to get overwhelmed with anxiety or anger; to try and enjoy the simpler things in life. It's more of a reminder to be relaxed and more mindful. To not overexert too far beyond my abilities that it does more harm than good. In a way, although it may be a bit cliche, it's to remember to "stop and smell the roses." I'm going to have an easier time with it in some aspects, but there are other aspects where it will be a significant challenge.
From a different perspective, I guess I could also resolve to work at perfecting some of the technical aspects of working with off camera flash, as I did here. I bought a new pair of radio triggers for the flash, since my previous set wasn't compatible with my current camera. There's a big learning curve with the new ones. And I need to organize my gear and find some of the different gobo's that I've bought over the past few years instead of trying to do some make shift ones like today.

Year in Pictures Project
Day 2
Week 1/52
New Years Resolution: Get this body back in shape!!! I have put on 20 lbs since April of 2006. I am not happy about this at all.
I have been working on dieting for the past few weeks and had planned to do 365 again to document my progress...but it is too much for me to do that so I am going to add a picture a week that is diet related to my YIP project to document my progress. Possibly may do a photo like this once a month to keep me motivated.
I am hoping that going public with this will help me keep on track! Wish me luck and best of luck to everyone else with their new year's resolutions!

new year's resolution #4: enjoy the simple things in life, like the beauty of the sunrise
on this day (because i am typing this a week late x]) i stayed up till 7am so I could watch the sunrise. :D (i was also watching the shaytards on youtube)
last day of winter break and i'm anxious about school
i got so many pictures today :D:D:D:D
here are some of the best. i tried to not get the sill houses in the pictures but then it reminded me of this little phrase always running through my mind (don't ask me why..) "the view from suburbia"
that's what i think when i look out the window....
i fell asleep soon after this because i was so exhausted. x]
nothing else happened. :D
