have started a new project together. We will each be taking a photo every week and then emailing them to each other and displaying them as a diptric. Hopefully this will be a really great project as it will be interesting to see what the other has come up with during the week and how the 2 photos go together (or not, as the case may be). This is the first image, the left shot is mine, the right is Ian Lands'

one still from an alchemical book of prayer: first movement: this earth, beloved...

dear friends!! the november wind is shaking the windows. the november chill is seeking to enter my house... these are days and nights for pots of tea, beloved books, and journeys of the soul....

one night a few years ago, i dreamed of a book that was hidden in a room, the designs of its cover merging with the patterned fabric of the chair that it rested on... i opened the book. images and words appeared on the pages, flowed across, merged, and disappeared into a flux of symbols. a beloved dream, a beloved book!! during these november days and nights, i am exploring the possibilities of the adobe flash program to bring something of this book into the world...

let us welcome the changing month and the gifts that it offers...

may all travelers find joy!!

Week One!

"I am more comfortable behind the lens than in front of it."

Each week, I will upload a photo that tells you a little bit about me. I want to use this project to get more creative with my camera.

I have fallen headfirst back into the tweaking and layering of fractal functions. It began with a few images that seemed like "galactic textures" - the sort of thing you might expect to see in the background of one of those memes of a cat hovering on a slice of pizza in outer space.

(I will post some of these textures later, after I tweak them some more... I swear I am a TOTAL tweak-freak: I have to adjust each variable just so, and see what happens and create endless variations and variations of variations and so on before I get things to a point where I feel the results are good enough to post.)

Then I started created fractal functions that would look like planets, which I could possibly use to layer on top of the "galactic textures" I'd created in order to "complete" the image. But many of the "planet" images stand alone. Certainly I _WILL_ try layering them over and blending them with the more nebular "galactic textures", but they look pretty fantabulous just on their own, so I felt it was time to share a peek at this new large-scale-project/fascination of mine that I am calling my "Galactic Textures Series"

Flowers and Bees,

Helena Cardoso is a Portuguese fashion designer, specialized in traditional handicraft, mainly textile. She also creates accessories and jewelry, and more recently, decorative pannels, that are authentic paintings. Colours and textures are very beautiful.

Helena is posing close to one of her creations, which has been made with recycled material.

1/52 ~ 52 Weeks in Bardo

I'm wide awake

Not losing any sleep

I picked up every piece

And landed on my feet

I'm wide awake

Need nothing to complete myself

Inicio este nuevo proyecto ideado por Carol y Rosa con mucha ilusión, porque mamá también existe, y será bonito ver estas fotos con mis peques con el pasar del tiempo. Gracias por la idea, chicas, y espero cumplir con el objetivo.

When I first saw the shots I took with Frank a Canon EOS Elan 7NE made me hysterical and amazed by the beauty of film. A beauty that I had forgotten somewhere...

It's like shooting film woke me up for a "new" meaning.

Some friends inspired me to try film again and I tell you. If you can, do it and experience the magic.

I told Matt that it was as if a light was kindled in my eyes then he said "and a hole on my wallet". I always appreciate the simple things more plus I'm not that expensive to keep. I don't know why he said that. =)

This is for the time where things were more simple.

Beautifully simple.

52 Weeks of film is starting this Friday.

( I just don't know if I'll hold myself posting only once a week. Thinking about doing a double 52 weeks. One with Frank- Canon and one with Martha- Pentax)

Nuovo anno, tante piccole novità, brutte e belle.
