So... what does one do when a new iPhone photo processing app has been downloaded? One shoots something... anything... to see what the app can do! =) That's exactly what's going on here. I've always been a fan of b/w photography... especially with dramatic tone and light. Simply desaturating color images to get there doesn't cut it... as you, dear reader, already know very well. So it's off to Photoshop for exposure and levels and channel tweaks... all that. And a lot of trial and error. Not ever image turns out well... but when they do... it feels so worth the effort.

With that experience in mind, I downloaded an iOS app called Dramatic B&W, after reading some reviews and seeing what other people were doing with it. For $0.99... you can hardly go wrong. And I gotta say... wow... in my initial experience with 4 or 5 photo conversions... this app really delivers on it's promise of 'dramatic b&w'! Beginning with a preset (there are quite a few choices), the real magic happens with the adjustments and fine-tuning that follows... of course. But even so far, I'm impressed with what this app will allow me to do with the photos that I process through it. I can't wait to give it much better originals to begin with! =)

Never... stop... learning...
