A small brook running along Race Brook Trail (Mount Everett State Reservation, MA)...hiked all the way up to the Falls and they weren't running. So this little beauty got my full attention. I could have sat there forever. :)
Hidden in the trees along the Sol Duc Falls Trail is a wooden structure built as a refuge for hikers.
Sol Duc Falls is located from the Sol Duc Trailhead in Olympic National Park. A mild trail leads through old growth forests to a bridge spanning the 4 prong fall, which drops precipitously into a scenic gorge. It continues onto Deer Lake and the 18.7 mile 7 Lakes Basin Loop.
Sol Duc Falls is among the most photographed waterfalls in Olympic, drawing large crowds year round.
The Annapurna Circuit is a trek within the mountain ranges of central Nepal. The total length of the route varies between 160–230 km (100-145 mi), depending on where motor transportation is used and where the trek is ended. This trek crosses two different river valleys and encircles the Annapurna Massif. The path reaches its highest point at Thorung La pass (5416m/17769 ft), reaching the edge of the Tibetan plateau. Most trekkers hike the route anticlockwise, as this way the daily altitude gain is slower, and crossing the high Thorong La pass is easier and safer.
The mountain scenery, seen at close quarters includes the Annapurna Massif (Annapurna I-IV), Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, Manaslu, Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak, Pisang Peak, and Paungda Danda. Numerous other peaks of 6000-8000m in elevation rise from the Annapurna range.

Really, the only way I can describe this morning. I woke up around 6am thinking sunrise was still at 7. But, due to the time change I miscalculated and ran behind. I could of went back to sleep, but instead I quickly rolled out of bed, threw on some sandals and bolted for my "magic road".
It seemed like an eternity driving through the thick, dense fog. Higher, and higher I'd climb with no hope in site of breaking through the clouds. I rounded one last bend, and like out of a scene of a fairy tale the clouds opened up and a magical orange glow casts on hoar frost covered trees and with one more bend I poked through the clouds. Almost, as if I was on an airplane taking off from the airport. Clouds zipping by, and an incredible golden hour making for some moody light I began to go photo crazy.
This is truly a road, that just keeps giving.
In honor of National Wildflower Week, here is a freshly bloomed Rain Lily (Cooperia pedunculata) as she stretches her dew-covered petals during the early hours of a quiet spring morning. Texas, 2019.
According to the experts at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, there are over 2,700 species of native wildflowers in Texas alone! This means the handful of species I’ve shared here are just a drop in the bucket of wildflowers that exist!
It’s easy to misunderstand wildflowers to exist only for the sake of beauty, but let’s not forget the important roles wildflowers play in keeping an ecosystem healthy, as well as providing food and shelter for wildlife and humans, in both direct and indirect ways. 🌸
I hope you can take some time to spend outdoors, and appreciate these colorful creations now before most of them fade away into the hot hot summer. ☀️🌻

A Great Horned Owl takes flight a bit early than usual`from a Cypress tree with Spanish moss all around. Thanks to the over cast evening, the Owls came out early. He is a formidable predator, that can take large prey, including raptors such as Ospreys, Peregrine Falcons, Prairie Falcons, and other owls. Great Horned Owls are covered in extremely soft feathers that insulate them against the cold winter weather and help them fly very quietly in pursuit of prey. Their short, wide wings allow them to maneuver among the trees of the forest.Great Horned Owls usually gravitate toward secondary-growth woodlands, swamps, orchards, and agricultural areas.
