Memorial behind the Dower House in Bristol to Rev Harold Burden who founded the Stoke Park Hospital for the mentally handicapped in 1909. Burden was a remarkable man who devoted his life to the welfare of disadvantaged people. Stoke Park Hospital finally closed in 1997 as better drugs and the Care in the Community programme saw a change in policy on mental illness. Burden who died in 1930 also gave his name to the pioneering Burden Neurological Institute opened in 1939 and originally sited nearby where I worked for six months on a work experience scheme in 1981. It is now relocated at Frenchay Hospital.
Here is a dog that despite limited mobility due to a degenerative neurological was able to get around with his new K-9 Cart wheelchair. Other pictures show him playing with other dogs in this makeshift pond from the rain.

Neuro Interventional Procedures
Neuro intervention procedures are the minimally invasive treatments for health conditions affecting the head, neck, brain, and spine. Rather than opening the skull or exposing the spinal column, physicians can insert a catheter through a small hole (1-2mm) in the groin or wrist. Along blood vessels, this catheter is able to reach lesions. Combined with image-guided techniques, the most advanced devices like aspiration catheters, cerebral coils etc. will be used in treatment. The neuro intervention procedure provides more benefits than conventional surgeries, including minimal patient discomfort, less bleeding, and faster recovery.

Our event was an absolute success. Here are a selection of pictures from the day. We had a buffet served from 10:00 am during which time Kirsty Duncan, a local singer, preformed 50s style music. In the afternoon we have tea, coffee and cakes served as well as two massage therapists from 'Health Rediscovered' who offered 10 min massages to our staff.
We were also joined by Sir Graham Teasdale (aka Prof Teasdale) who is the man who helped develop the Glasgow Coma Scale in the 70s.
He was one of the retired staff from The Institute of Neurological Sciences who was invited to attend the event. Also in attendance was lead nurse Graham Christie and our Chief Nurse Elaine Burt as well as a few staff from across the unit who helped us to make the vent a success.
As a master’s student on the MSc Clinical Neuroscience course based at the Institute of Neurology in Queen Square, I pass by this building every day and I am inspired to do my best in my studies. This building houses world-class lectures, clinical rounds, innovative research, top-quality care for patients and their families, and so much more.

The poisonous cloud that enveloped Bhopal left everlasting consequences that today continue to consume people's lives.

On Monday I made perhaps the most difficult decision of my life. Harry was put to sleep after the vet diagnosed a suspected neurological problem. I wanted this weeks photo to be a tribute to him, but Lola and I just aren't feeling quite up to it.
This afternoon I started rounding up his toys in the backyard and Lola decided to lay with them. Strange of her really, she's never been into his toys. I decided she was telling me something, so I grabbed the camera and took this shot.
Lola and Harry were together since she was 8 weeks old (and he was almost 12 months old), so they had 7 years together. We miss him so much.
