Oct. 9, 2024: Neon Alley in downtown Pueblo, Colorado. Sign and Neon Light collector Joe Koncilja has placed about 50 pieces near the Pueblo, Colorado, City Hall. Rt66/2024/66
The Seaholm Power Plant in Austin, Texas was constructed in 1951 and its architectural style falls under Streamline Moderne. It stopped producing power in 1989. It's design saved it from being leveled as its a beautiful building. Seaholm was repurposed and now has offices and restaurants. The city Council and developers were able to get something right and save a building through redevelopment.
Continuing my neon theme to bring a little colour and light to these winter nights and this image was taken in a travel agent window near to Victoria Station
The Painted Bunting is considered by most as the most colorful bird that breeds in North America. Generally when we photo birds they are above us and we capture mostly the underparts. Today I had a close encounter with a PABU that was on the ground displaying for a female. Thought I would crop a close-up of these neon green scapulars. Stunning! Our beautiful world, pass it on.
This striking neon sign for Las Vegas’ long-gone Chief Hotel Court was erected in 1940. Since 1997, it’s been a part of the collection of the Neon Museum and stands at the northeast corner of Fremont Street and 4th Street in Downtown Las Vegas.

Having a bit play at trying to get tall waterdrop collisions, added a bit of neon food colouring for effect
The Blue Swallow Motel in Tucumcari, NM on Route 66. I shot this image in 2016. When I arrived at 7am, the lights were out and the sky wasn't so dramatic. Luckily, the management turned on the neon signs for me. While my original shots were good, I wanted to make them pop. I heavily retouched them and added the sunset sky from my own collection.

This huge neon shield was on top of UP's freight station that was just off of I-70 next to or in the 18th street/Armourdale yard in Kansas City. It now hangs inside Union Station. The words "Union Station", which was part of the sign, now hangs outside on the west end of Union Station The last time I saw the shield a lot of the neon was burned out. I'm not sure it is even on anymore, since the part of the building it's in is not accessible to the public except when the North Hall is closed for private occasions, and the public is re-routed through the area where this sign hangs. 9/11/14.
from a scan of a Kodachrome color slide I shot in the early '80s. Sadly, this building was demolished years ago.

Northern Advertising was established in 1955. The company repairs, restores, and produces custom neon signs. The company's owner, Dean Blazek, taught glass bending classes from 1978-1998. His impressive sign collection fills two buildings.
