One of a series of mileposts on the Trent & Mersey Canal.
The Trent & Mersey Canal connects the River Trent navigation at Derwent Mouth near Shardlow with the Bridgewater Canal at Preston Brook. Despite its name, the Trent & Mersey never connected to the Mersey; however Preston Brook used to give access to the Mersey via the Bridgewater Canal.

Northern trade and industry flourished in the mid-18th Century, and there was great call for a canal linking the east and west of England.
The Leeds & Liverpool Canal was the earliest of the trans-Pennine canals to be proposed. It offered a gentler, less direct route than the Huddersfield Narrow Canal and the Rochdale Canal, but it still passed through important limestone and coal mining areas. Construction took a long time, two canals, one in Yorkshire and one in Lancashire, were gradually brought together and it was only completed in 1816, some 46 years after work began.
Together with the Aire & Calder Navigation, which it meets at Leeds, it offered a coast to coast route between the Irish Sea and the North Sea, though not a proper connection until the Stanley Dock branch in Liverpool opened in 1846.
Here's some data from one day's sights. In this case, I used the Moon and Sun's lower limbs (LL), plus the star Arcturus.

JD Wetherspoon - The Navigation Inn, Kings Norton.

Ownership has changed again, and seems to be safe now.
This historic inn is located at the top end of Wharf Road, near the old village green. Before its closure, in 2018, this two-storey detached building survived several planning applications proposing its demolition. Its name indicates its origin in the canal era of the 18th and early 19th century, when numerous inns of this name were built. These were frequented by navigators who worked on the canals, such as the Worcester and Birmingham Canal further along Wharf Road.
