Measham Pottery.
'Measham ware' or 'Barge ware' is associated with use on canal boats. Most 'Measham ware' was actually produced in Church Gresley, Derbyshire bewteen the years 1870 and 1910.
Foxton Locks are a staircase flight of ten locks. Two groups of five locks, with a passing pound in between, and side pounds. Brick with some stone.
The top lock has a single gate, followed by five chambers, all with double gates and footbridges. Beyond these, the passing pound, followed by a single gable and then five chambers descending, with double gates, the lower four chambers crossed by footbridges. Each chamber is brick lined and has an inset brick dated 1909.
Alongside the locks is the site of the Foxton Inclined Plane Boat Lift, built in 1900 to resolve the operational restrictions imposed by the lock flight. It was not a commercial success and only remained in full-time operation for ten years. It was dismantled in 1926, but a project to recreate it commenced in the 2000s.

This photo documents two very important means of navigation to (thru)hikers on the Appalachian Trail. The term "blazes" refers to the white painted rectangles on this tree trunk. The entire AT is marked with this white blazes, thereby allowing one to travel on the trail without a map. In this image, there are two blazes, meaning that there is a trail intersection ahead. In this case, the section trail that intersects the AT is a side trail leading to a shelter. For the most part, shelters can be located directly on trail or up to 1 mile off the AT. There is a second sign above the one for the shelter, indicating mileage from that specific location to other landmarks (mountain summits, other shelters, road crossings, etc) north and south of the present location.
