Taken at The Butterfly Place in Westford, MA. The ID is a best guess, so it may or may not be right. I'm better at shooting butterflies than I am at IDing them. :-)

I saw a lonely leaf today,
hanging softly, worn away.
Bent by seasons, wind, and rain,
carrying traces of its pain.
It did not hide its fragile side,
nor try its struggles to disguise.
It simply stood beneath the sky,
letting time and storms pass by.
And looking there, I came to see
a little bit of you and me.
Because we all have days we bend,
when strength feels closer to an end.
Yet nature whispers through the grey,
"You do not have to stand alone today."
The earth still holds us when we're weak,
the comfort we forget to seek.
The leaf may bow, the branch may sway,
but neither is thrown away.
For even in the fading light,
nature stays beside us through the night.
And maybe that's the lesson here,
for every heart that knows some fear:
showing weakness is not the end,
even the strongest leaf can bend.
A single flower standing out against the dense green background. I liked the contrast between the bright white bloom and the darker layers of foliage around it.

This Eastern Wood-Pewee perched calmly among the fresh green leaves, blending effortlessly into its summer surroundings.
I photographed it at the Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma. The bird stayed still just long enough for me to get a clear shot in the soft morning light.
Eastern Wood-Pewees are small flycatchers known for their plaintive, whistled calls. They often sit motionless on branches before darting out to catch flying insects midair.
With talons locked around its prize, an osprey glides low and powerful, carrying a flash of orange across the still waters.
A small Opuntia microdasys, also known as Bunny Ear Cactus, standing about 20 cm tall in a garden pot, surrounded by lush green succulents — a charming touch of desert beauty in a tropical setting.

I photographed this vibrant collared lizard basking on a granite rock at Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma. Its vivid blue-green body and long tail stood out sharply against the textured stone and blurred green background.
This species is known for its striking coloration and bold personality. Collared lizards are often seen sunning themselves on rocks, where they can warm up quickly and keep an eye out for prey. They get their name from the distinct black bands around their neck that resemble a collar.
These lizards are strong runners and can even run on two legs when escaping predators. Spotting one in full sunlight like this is always a rewarding moment during a visit to the refuge.
To get this image of these wild mushrooms I had to splay the legs of the tripod so that the camera was level with the subject. I used my trusty black bin liner to kneel on - the ground was very wet after 4 days of almost constant rain. Today was the first day of sunshine for a while. The Sony A100 was used with a shutter release cable, manual focus with a Vivtar 100mm macro lens at f3.2 and ISO100. The evening sun was filtering through the trees in the woodland of Normanby Park near to Scunthorpe, UK. 14/10/2011
Took me a wee while to get up from crouching low on the ground to focus the shot - my knees aren't as good as they used to be......
