Canyon Sainte-Anne is a spectacular, steep-sided gorge, carved by the Sainte-Anne-du-Nord River for 1.2 billion years, is located at 6 km east of Beaupré, Quebec, Canada. The river drops over a 74 m (243 ft) waterfall within the canyon (taller than Niagara Falls). It offers many activities, such as the Air Canyon zip line, several lookouts and observation points, trails, and three suspended bridges to allow visitors to discover the beauty of the canyon step-by-step. People also discover the giant potholes and waterfalls of the mini canyon.

A thick haze from the wildfires out west returned to Minnesota dulling the usually vibrant blue sky this time of year.
The sun was still shining as best as it could when a repainted Tri-Window SD60M led a short H-MINNTW1-18A out of Becker.
It's been three-and-a-half years since I last saw a 3-windowed SD60M, which were still green at the time.
1425 is only my second repainted SD60M leader I've shot thus far, and it looks pretty awesome.
1964 spent so time in Minot recently helping with grain service, so it was nice to see it again.
My buddy Todd was in person for once to capitalize with me, and naturally, clouds were mocking us like normal with shade as the train approaches.

Cockatiel
Scientific Name: Nymphicus hollandicus
Description: The Cockatiel is an unusual member of the cockatoo family. It is small in size, and has a slender body and long pointed tail, which is more characteristic of the smaller parrots. Its plumage is mostly grey, paler below, with a white wing patch, orange cheeks and a distinctive pointed crest. The male can be identified by its bright yellow forehead, face and crest. Young Cockatiels resemble the adult female, although the young males usually have a brighter yellow face. The Cockatiel is not found naturally in any other country, but is a popular cage bird, second only to the Budgerigar, Melopsittacus undulates. The Cockatiel does not have the screeching voice of many other parrots and may learn to 'speak'.
Distribution: The Cockatiel is widespread throughout mainland Australia, but is uncommon in Tasmania, with only a few sightings being reported to date.
Habitat: The Cockatiel is seen in pairs or small flocks, in most types of open country, usually near water. It is common throughout its range, especially in the north and the more arid inland areas.
Seasonal movements: Throughout its range, the Cockatiel is strongly nomadic, moving around in response to the availability of food and water.
Feeding: Cockatiels feed on a variety of grass seeds, nuts, berries and grain. They may feed either on the ground or in trees, and always in small to large numbers. Cockatiels roost in trees near water and travel from these areas in large flocks to feeding grounds.
Breeding: Cockatiels may breed at any time, in response to suitable periods of rain, especially in the more arid regions. Both sexes share the incubation of the eggs, which are laid in a hollow, high up in trees. Suitable trees are either in or close to water. Cockatiels enter the nest hollow tail first.
Calls: Although mostly silent, the Cockatiel gives a long and distinctive "queel-queel" in flight. It does not have the screeching voice of many other parrots and may learn to 'speak'.
Minimum Size: 30cm
Maximum Size: 33cm
Average size: 32cm
Average weight: 90g
Breeding season: Normally July to December in south of range
Clutch Size: 2 to 9, usually 5
Incubation: 19 days
Nestling Period: 30 days

Marmite de géant: fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marmite_du_diable
Excerpt from conservationhamilton.ca:
Overview: Water mixes with carbon dioxide to make carbonic acid; the acid responsible for dissolving carbonate rocks like limestone.
This stream has been flowing underground for several meters through the channels it dissolved in the bedrock. This spring is the point where it "recharges‟ to the surface.
This isn't "pure water‟. Aside from the man-made chemicals it probably contains, it also has naturally occurring chemicals in it, like carbon dioxide.
Carbon Dioxide can be found in the air and in the soil. It is a natural gas created by humans, animals, and plants. When we breathe, we add carbon dioxide to the air. When plants
decompose, they add carbon dioxide to soil.
When rain falls through the air or percolates through the soil, it picks up the carbon dioxide and becomes carbonic acid; the same acid you find in soda pop. This acidic water is what dissolves the dolostone and makes karst. Pure water could not do it.
Depending on the time of year and the amount of rain, the stream pH will be neutral or very slightly acidic.
Description:
The large nebula just lower left of center is known as The Tadpoles. It is an emission nebula and a star forming region located in the constellation Auriga. It is named for the two bright streams of gas that when zoomed in resemble tadpoles. The nebula is four million years old, and is approximately 12,000 light-years from Earth. Its diameter is about 100 light-years, and each tadpole is about 10 light-years long. At the center of the nebula is an open cluster (NGC1893) that shapes the nebula and drives the Sulphur-2, Hydrogen-alpha, and Oxygen-3 (SHO) emissions.
The smaller nebula just above and right of center is known as the Spider Nebula (SH2-234).
This image records the SHO emissions using a 3-nanometer narrowband filter set. The stars are rendered in naturally colored RGB.
This image is a single, un-mosiaced frame that was captured in a Bortle 6 suburban sky. Transparency as reported by Astrospheric was below average.

Hoplophoneus primaevus was an extinct carnivore that lived in North America during the Early Oligocene, approximately 34 to 30.5 million years ago. It belonged to the genus Hoplophoneus, which ranged more broadly from the Late Eocene to Early Oligocene (~37 to 30 million years ago), and was part of the Nimravidae family—often referred to as “false saber-toothed cats.” Despite their feline-like appearance, nimravids formed a separate evolutionary branch within Carnivora. The name Hoplophoneus comes from the Greek words for "weapon" (hoplo) and "murder" (phonos)—a fitting name for an apex predator equipped with elongated saber-like canines.
Scientific classification:
Domain: Eukaryota
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Mammalia
Order: Carnivora
Suborder: Feliformia
Family: †Nimravidae
Subfamily: †Nimravinae
Genus: †Hoplophoneus
Key species within the genus Hoplophoneus:
Type species:
†Hoplophoneus primaevus (described by Cope in 1874).
Other species:
†Hoplophoneus occidentalis – larger size, with more robust canines.
†Hoplophoneus mentalis – more ancient form, present in the Late Eocene.
†Hoplophoneus dakotensis – characterized by a more elongated skull.
†Hoplophoneus oreodontis – likely specialized in preying on oreodonts.
The skull of H. primaevus presents many of the hallmarks of the genus: prominent upper canines, flanged lower jaws to protect those teeth when the mouth was closed, deep zygomatic arches for strong bite musculature, and a shortened snout. Its limb proportions—short and sturdy—suggest it was an ambush predator, capable of short bursts of speed but not extended chases. Like other nimravids, it likely hunted from cover, quickly overpowering prey with a powerful, slashing bite.
This cast was produced from a remarkably complete original specimen, with only 15% restoration and a unique, naturally occurring coloration. The replica faithfully preserves the most iconic features of Hoplophoneus—its extended saber canines, recessed eye sockets, and muscular jaw contours—capturing the lethal elegance of one of the most specialized predators of its time.
