A walk through the narrow streets in the charming village of

I think this was a pine tree of sorts, but no idea what the narrow growth is, noticed a fair few with them

Arawacus leucogyna FELDER & FELDER, 1865

(Narrow-lined Hairstreak / Tecla rayada)

Arawacus leucogyna is distributed from Belize to Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru. This species is found in forest edge habitats. Males perch on the foliage of shrubs and saplings at trail intersections. Forewing: 16 mm.

There are 18 species of Arawacus, all confined to the neotropical region. All have a similar pattern of brown or black stripes radiating from the tornus of the hindwing and terminating at points along the forewing costa.

The pattern serves to divert the eye of birds away from the butterfly's head and body, and towards the 'false antennae' tails. Immediately after settling, the butterfly characteristically gyrates to face in the opposite direction and dips its head. It then slowly oscillates the hindwings, causing the tails to wiggle, which further acts to focus the observer's attention on the rear of the butterfly.

the winding, steep streets are too narrow for vehicles in many parts, while the only sound to accompany your footsteps during a stroll may be that of the call to prayer.

On a bright day, the sun's rays bounce off sandstone-coloured walls and occasionally, you'll pass by a decaying three-floored Ottoman-style home, its wood-planked walls looming precariously over the street, or the open shutters of a teahouse with a group of old men sipping cups of Cay inside.

The old cobbled streets held plenty of other surprises: unexpected glimpses of well-known structures in the gaps between the decrepit collapsing traditional houses; gravestones on the side of the road, marking an ancient cemetery; a ruined stone arch hinting at an even older structure, all interspersed with modern hotels built in the traditional Turkish style to preserve the aesthetic appearance of the streets.

Schmalspurromantik im November - Steyrtalbahn, Bhf Grünburg

This little tiny pier is so uneven and narrow, only about 2 steps wide that I nearly fall into Lake Wakatipu ( which could be enjoyable in summer but not in this cool early spring ).

My working trip is nearly reaching the end. One more Tekapo night and I'll be home holidaying for 3 days, take care my friends, see your photostreams later!

We feel in total communion with Nature, walking in this forest made of a labyrinth of more or less high rocks, various trees and boxwood. It is even difficult to find our way back in this maze of paths more or less narrow.

Claustrophobic, the fact of going in circles without being able to find the exit, triggered a feeling of panic and suffocation. Fortunately, not being alone, I trusted my guide who was able to spot one of the points where we were already went and have normally continued our path.

This forest is in the Municipality of Nébias, in Aude.

the Kuala Lumpur Tower framed by the walls of a building.

I captured this image standing on the edge of a cliff face in Dead Horse State Park. The Colorado River twists in the distance as the storm was racing toward the park creating a narrow opening across the desert floor. If was fascinating to watch the power of Mother nature from afar.

Exploring a small coastal village by the magical Fjords.

The Fjords are the soul of Norway and certainly its most magnificent attraction.

Schmalsprromantik im Steyrtal

Caught the backside of this iron lady in her engine shed on a rainy sunday. This beatuiful narrow gauge steam locomotive was built in 1898 and its is one of the oldest steam locomotives in Austria still operational. All these locomotives were beaten quite heavily in regular service until 1980 (!) when the entire line was shut down by Austrian Federal Rawilways (ÖBB). Some engaged railroad enthusiats were able to purchase and preserve part of the "Steyrtal Line". The "Steyrtalbahn" as it is called has been operated as a heritage or museum realway since then. www.oegeg.at/startseite/english-summary/

The goosander is a medium-sized duck and a member of a group called the 'sawbills' because of their long, narrow bills with saw-like 'teeth' which are good for gripping fish. A long, streamlined bird, it is perfectly shaped for swimming after fish.

Almost any fish species less than 20cm in girth may be consumed, anything from a stickleback to a salmon. They catch what is most abundant; in extreme cases they can swallow a fish 36cm long.

Male goosanders are white, with dark green heads, black backs and long, red, hooked bills. The white sides and breast sometimes have a pink glow. Females are grey, with a gingery or reddish-brown head and a white throat.

I have got a new ultra-wide-angle lens. This shot is from a series of photographs of mixed subjects, almost exclusively taken with this lens.

Enjoy!

Crossing the outflow from Loch Muick is this narrow wooden bridge. It gives a great view down Glen Muick and the water of Loch Muick.

Delay after delay caused the Ballast extra out of Livingston to only catch sun in two spots between Sappington and the west end of Jefferson Canyon. Wedged between the Jefferson river, and highway 2 the entire ballast train is in the last sliver of light in the canyon and it would be gone within minutes, this crew would roll into Whitehall at sunset and be back the next morning to load it up and take it back east. #properleader

2 more pics of the fort gate at Fort Canning Park in Singapore. The steps led up to the roof of the structure but there wasn't much of a view from up there.
