The famous dune 45 and one of the most popular and one of the most climbed dunes in the Namib-Naukluft Park, Namibia.
It is located at km 45 from the entrance of the park, (its name isn't a fate!).
it is composed of 5 million year old sand that is detritus accumulated by the Orange River from the Kalahari Desert and then blown here.
Der Berg rechts im Bild heißt „Zuckerhut“ (1285m) und ist einer der vier hohen Gipfel im Spitzkoppegebirge. Das Spitzkoppegebirge umfasst die Gipfel „Große Spitzkoppe“ (1728m), „Pontok Mountain“ (1629m), „Zuckerhut“ (1285m) und die „Kleine Spitzkoppe“ (1584m).

O monte do lado direito chama-se "Pão de açúcar”, 1285m. É um dos quatro picos altos na Serra de Spitzkoppe.
A Serra de Spitzkoppe abrange os cumes „Grande Spitzkoppe“ (1728m), „Monte Pontok” (1629m), "Pão de açúcar" (1285m) e o “Pequeno Spitzkoppe” (1584m).

it was so good to see them doing so well - what a change from a few years ago! There are even 5 foals now after attempts have been made to relocate the hyenas who had been killing them for years and an additional feeding programme has been established!

The dunes of Sossusvlei form one of the most spectacular places in southern Africa. In the heart of Namibia, Sossusvlei is a desert of salt and clay, a sumptuous site which offers impressive red sand dunes with perfect geometry, in the heart of the Namib desert. In the Namib Naukluft Park, Sossusvlei extends from the locality of Sesriem over about sixty kilometers from east to west. The site of the dunes is so immense that Sossusvlei is called the sea of sand. You should know that Namibia contains 2 of the 10 great deserts of the world and that there are 2.6 inhabitants per square kilometer (against 118 in France and 446 in India!).
