At first glace it appears to be a genuine sign & I'm sure some people don't even read it! There are a lot of them in the area of the Powerhouse, New Farm Park, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

On this particular evening, as I walked from Fantasyland to the hub, I noticed how empty the Castle was. Not having photographed its passageway for a while, I decided to set up for a shot. Right as I set up, two hooligans appeared in my frame. While these hooligans were actually Vanessa Guzan and famed photographic hobgoblin Larry White, at the time I cursed my luck that such inconsiderate tourists ;-P would wander throughout my frame adrift, I soon realized who spearheaded the plan. All I can say is this: Disney photographer's beware, for if you thought Matt Pasant ruining your shots was bad, you have yet to encounter the menacing Larry White.

On a note much more related to the shot, to me, the gothic look of the doors and gate pictured here make this area reminiscent of the 'dark' portions of the Castle. They are really quite the contrast to the murals and Fantasyland in the distance (in a good way!).

If a photographer can’t feel what he is looking at, then he is never going to get others to feel anything when they look at his pictures.

Notice - No one was injured during the taking of this photograph.

This man's curiosity is directed toward a record store give-away box on the snowy sidewalk where he was digging for treasure. His dog's curiosity, however, is directed toward me as I pass by on my way to Bulk Barn.

I've passed this a thousand times on my way to pick up my daughter at school, in my way to walk the dog. Always a wake up call.

Taken at Summit Park in the Blue Ash Suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio.

I noticed on our evening walk there were more railfans trackside than normal and walked by the fence and nabbed a couple of grab shots without even pausing our walk.

Original Ascari-Ferrari 500 F2:

about original Ascari car Ferrari 500 F2:

The Ferrari F2 was raced for a couple of seasons where it was pitted against competition such as the British HWM, Maserati, Gordinis, and Connaughts. During those grueling seasons, the Ferrari 500 F2 proved its potential by being raced on many weekends throughout the years and emerging victorious in many of the races. The Lampredi powered car carried Alberto Ascari to two world titles and brought fame to the name, Ferrari. The car was not just limited to the factory; many privateers purchased examples and expanded the fame of the 500.

Ingegnere Lampredi was of the strong opinion that the 2-liter car did not need to be powered by a twelve-cylinder unit, but rather a smaller and lighter unit could provide many benefits. He convinced Enzo that a four-cylinder unit would be more competitive and fuel efficient. It would become one of the few Ferrari cars to be powered by a four-cylinder unit. The four-cylinder engine would be used in Ferrari sports cars and single seat racers during the 1950s. The engine was mounted in the front of the 4500 F1 derived chassis and sent power to the rear wheels. A fuel tank sat behind the driver. A small windscreen protected the driver from the elements. The front suspension was fully independent while the rear was a de Dion layout.

In 1952 'organ-pipes' were added to the vehicle. Running along the middle sides of the vehicle was an exhaust pipe which could burn the drivers elbows if not careful. A heat shield was installed right where the elbows might have hit to help ease the potential for a burn.

At the Modena Grand Prix, held in September of 1951, two factory cars had been created and were entered into the race in the Formula Junior class. It was not immediately entered into the F2 class because the competition was pretty stiff at the time and Enzo wanted to win. Ascari drove the car to a victory after averaging nearly 120 km/h.

Ferrari's big break came at the end of the 1951 season. Alfa Romeo announced their retirement from racing and as a result, the sport of Formula 1 went into a bit of a decline. For the 1952 and 1953 season, the World Championship was run under the two-liter Formula 2 regulations which was meant to keep the sport competitive. Ferrari and their 375 had been poised to dominate the season but these regulations meant a new engine was required. The Lampredi four-cylinder unit was modified with four Weber DOE 45 single-barrel carburetors, modified camshaft, and a new fuel system. The bodywork was simplified and the brakes were enlarged.

The debut of the new racer was at Siracusa, a non-championship race, where the 500 F2 easily won the race. The following two races, at Pau and Marseilles, were also non-championship races which the car emerged victorious. During the 1952 season, Ascari drove the 500 to six of the seven Grand Prix victories. The seventh Grand Prix victory was won by Taruffi, Ascari's teammate. The team consisted of three works cars driven by Ascari, Taruffi, and Farina.

Throughout the seasons, the cars were given slight modifications. Ascari's car had two slots in the tail to provide additional cooling to the oil tank and transmission. Some of the cars were given deflector tabs over the front wheels. The works cars had a slightly more tapered nose and were void of the mesh radiator grille.

The cars first defeat came at Reims at the hands of Jean Behra while driving a six-cylinder Gordinin. Ascari and Villoresi had retired prematurely from the race due to their vehicles magnetos overheating. The cars magneto arrangement was reconfigured and ready for the next Grand Prix race. The new configuration proved successful and the cars finished in the top three positions. This trend would continue for many of the following Grand Prix races. The team was victorious at the German Grand Prix at Nurburgring, and the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. Ascari went on to be crowned the French National Championship and later, the World Championship.

For two seasons, 1952 and 1953, the 500 F2 dominated. In 1954 the World Championship was again run under F1 regulations with 2.5-liter formula rules. Ferrari responded by increasing the displacement size of their four-cylinder engines to accommodate the new rules, but they were unable to keep pace with the six-cylinder Maserati's and eight-cylinder Mercedes-Benz racers.

In total, six Ferrari 500 F2 racers were constructed.

Captured this brown bear while traveling through Banff National Park in Canada. This bear was so intent in eating it never looked up to notice Mrs. Krach or I. It was quite intent on finding food.

I asked my wife to run past the bear to get its attention, but she was not being a 'good sport'.

One of the nice things of taking the car for the road trip, I was able to pack and have handy the Canon 60D that I still have and had the 70/200 lens attached ... allowing for this nice focal length. Was nice having it ready at any time needed.

A moment of golden glory in a darkening sky.

I have not taken many sky shots this year, but this sky made me run inside the house to go and grab my camera so as not to miss the light. It was changing by the moment and thankfully still looked wonderful when I came back outside.

Thanks 4 taking time to notice my pic...!!

If a photographer can’t feel what he is looking at, then he is never going to get others to feel anything when they look at his pictures.

We arrived in the town of Los Santos where we put up for the night. Not too surprisingly, there was a parade in progress. This parade differed from others by the quantity of horses participating. The cowboys had the reins in one hand and a bottle of rum in the other.

noticed that people hadn't revamped these as far as i could find somehow.

I wanted to upload this, not because it's my most thought out, or best, photo but because it was really fun and interesting to take. I took this over the summer in Taos, New Mexico, I was on vacation with my family. I absolutely loved the town and hope I can go back soon (I'm trying to talk my boyfriend into moving near there :P )

I noticed an abandoned place right next to our hotel. Since I absolutely love abandoned places I got up at about 5am and went to take explore and take photos. It turned out to be an abandoned funeral home! And it hadn't been abandoned for too long. There was a lot of religious graffiti on the building which I thought was really interesting.

So this is early morning New Mexico!

Lafayette, Colorado. Notice the seven birds perched on the old wind turbine. Seeing them made me realize that I've never seen this windmill spinning.

I think this type of wind machine, iconic and symbolic of the old west, was used to pump water. I see this windmill almost every day going to work on 95'th street, just south of Arapaho Road. It's on Shannon's farm, also known as "Red Barn Farm.

These windmills always make me think of the old western movies and Giant starring Rock Hudson, Elizabeth Taylor, and James Dean.

I've often wondered what the science is in choosing the number, length, and shape of the blades. The new wind turbines for generating electrical energy usually have only three blades but they are very long. The one pictured has 18 blades. I have been told that the amount of power that a wind turbine generates is proportional to the blade length. True?

The mountains in the background are the Flatirons in Boulder.

This photo was (obviously) color enhanced. It's also heavily cropped from the original which you can see here: www.flickr.com/photos/question_everything/4332379483/in/p....

noticed this urchin on a vertical cliff wall as its couration was strikingly different with a third of its spines white as opposed to bluey colour

Notice i traveled at 20Km/h past the school bus then 30 Km/h through the road works !

FOOTNOTE !

About 20 years ago while i was driving a 6 wheeler truck i was following a school bus on a rural road just out of town for a short while ... ultimately this school bus came to a halt and the door opened and students alighted from it ..

as i approached this now stationary bus a voice from "somewhere " spoke to me to "SLOW DOWN" which i did and am i forever thankful that i did slow right down ..

Unseen by me was this little 5 year old girl who ran across from the front of bus and straight across the road immediately in front of my truck into a nearby house driveway ..

I am very happy that no-one was hurt or killed .

This is my personal message to anyone that thinks its OK to go fast past a stationary school bus !

Needless to say i have Never forgotten this experience !

Just a friendly notice to imperials in our Star Wars Factions RPG.

The tree was made with a for a Black Forest Ents chessboard we're making for Brick Rodeo, so it'll be on a different base. I used a new (to me at least) technique with flexible hose holding the trunk together with tension instead of connecting studs. Will post WIPs on IG @goatman461

Noticed this tree looking a bit odd when on my travels back from 'Focus on Imaging 2013'... still, something about the image I like... I think!?

Another picture snapped from the window of my speeding car (Hubby was driving, of course...I don't snap and drive).

As much as I'd like to stop and frame my pictures carefully, there is a certain thrill with catching a decent shot at 65 mph. There's also that thrill of noticing things in your picture that you didn't see when you were taking it.

The horse, for instance.

Someone had put some persona posters up and I got angry, saying that the whole country were our users, not some neat persona. I ripped a hole in that piece of paper and stuck it in the window.
