not in sharp focus, but I loved the lineup of Vultures
not sure what they see, but they are looking out over the horse pasture at school
This barn and silo look ready for action but what action they get is only care-taking by others. For over 30 years I dressed in a business suit and tie five days a week to face the battles of the business world. Now when I dress up, it is not the same.
This was taken during a recent visit to the beach on the western shore of Lake Michigan. Our present "feels like" temperature is MINUS 7 F. Not quite Spring may be a bit of an understatement.

Well, not exactly.
A tele smash isn't a bad way to hide the CN red and black that's trailing!

I love this image, but its not really in focus, so I am not sure why I like it so much. I was playing around with getting the camera low to the ground to take an image, need to work on this.

My attempt at the "Looking Close... on Friday" theme "Not a Real One".

Not far out of Green River, Utah Amtrak 5 cruises past the Book Cliffs on the former Rio Grande heading up towards Price. Running almost two hours late the sun is only minutes away from dropping behind the mountains. 6/23/18
This is one of my favorite flowers, I love the colours but It's a bit sad they don't last all summer long :)

Forest, that is not only trees, but many other things as well. Mushrooms are one of the weirdest creations on Earth. Living underground, eating rotten wood, sometimes creating bizzare fungi above the ground and making substances of almost magical properties. Well, most of them are toxic and deadly, but still magical...
Big turtles on the crocodile farm in Djerba Explore Park :)
The crocodile farm is the park's biggest attraction. Covering about 20,000 square meters, it is the largest facility of its kind in the entire Mediterranean basin. Over 400 Nile crocodiles, imported from Madagascar, inhabit the small ponds and pools. They are bred exclusively for display, research, and breeding purposes, not for meat or skin. The entire park is beautifully landscaped. Bridges are built over the ponds, allowing visitors to explore the crocodiles' habitat and lifestyle. The ponds have banks overgrown with palm trees, papyrus, and other exotic plants. Besides crocodiles, the Explorer Park also houses other reptiles, like turtles, snakes, and lizards.
Djerba Explore Park is a tourist attraction in Djerba (Tunisia), consisting of three parts: the Lalla Hadria Museum, a small open-air museum showcasing the life of the former inhabitants, and the Crocodile Farm. The park is located on the eastern part of the island, near Cape Taguermes. On the photo the commercial zone of the park with shops and cafes and Tunisian-style buildings.

Stawy mają brzegi porośnięte palmami, papirusami i innymi egzotycznymi roślinami. Oprócz krokodyli w Explorer Parku, można zobaczyć też inne gady - żółwie, węże i jaszczurki.
The spirit of the Santa Fe is alive and well on BNSF's Conroe Sub in East Texas, as Conroe-based local L RDV001 features a pair of red and silver C44-9Ws, #690 and #698, a welcome sight on former ATSF rails.
Heading out to serve customers for the day, the train passes the fixed semaphore signal at the east end of Conroe Yard. This ATSF relic is the distant signal for the diamond with UP's Palestine Sub further in town; a few of these semaphores still protect the Conroe Sub's several diamond crossings. To my knowledge, these are the only active mainline semaphores remaining not just in Texas, but for hundreds of miles in any direction.
I had been putting off attempting to shoot these signals given the lack of traffic on the Conroe Sub, but with the prospect of shooting them with a Warbonnet duo, it was a no-brainer to come up there sooner rather than later (proving to be worth it, as I believe this duo was split up a few weeks later). Not as photogenic as the Southwest Chief splitting upper-quadrants in the desert, but still one hell of a sight on a Class I railroad in 2023.

Toast is my son's cat, She is a real sweetie and loves people, but finds joy in being quite the B%^*& to other kitties as seen here at the water bowl.
The first outing with my (Uli's) new Sigma 150-600mm lens and I have to say it is not bad. Not quite as good as my Canon zoom lens but amazingly without further calibration on the camera it produces very sharp pictures :-)))
Skylark in the grass (who are actually meadow larks most of the time ;-)

Not sure when I'll tire of shooting the kingfishers at Bathpool moorings and along the canal. Not just yet anyway.

Storm Ciara has arrived and I for one am not going out today. Damaging high winds, rain and snow are forecast for most parts of the country today. Here, where I live, we're a little sheltered but it's still dark and miserable outside in the driving rain.
Thank you to everyone who pauses long enough to look at my photo. Any comments or Faves are very much appreciated.
