Oprah Winfrey Network Invitation

Oprah Winfrey Network.

15 times, I have cycled 7 days, 575 miles, from San Francisco to Los Angeles in a cycling charity event called AIDSLifecycle. In route to Los Angeles, I (and 2,000 of my best friends) cycle thru Montecito - the home to Oprah Winfrey.

Each Year, the locals of Montecito gather and create their own "Paradise Pit Stop" for the approx. 2,000 AIDSLifecycle Cyclist & 400 Volunteer Crew members. There you can find: chocolate bars, strawberries, homemade ice cream, vegan treats, corn dogs, Twinkies, coco cola, massages, and then some.. ... ALL YOU CAN EAT ...GRATIS!

Years ago (as I ate my strawberries and homemade ice cream), I asked several Montecito residents: "Where is the Oprah Winfrey Network?"

The Habitat III networking events provided a platform for national, regional and local governments, civil society organisations, parliamentarians, research and academia, grassroots organisations, women, children and youth, business and industries, foundations and philanthropies, professionals, trade unions and workers, farmers, indigenous people, media and older persons, as well as intergovernmental organizations to discuss specific topics of relevance and interest within Housing and Sustainable Urban Development. Networking events focusing on implementation and action-oriented initiatives for the New Urban Agenda were dominating the programme.

The networking events will have a duration of two hours and are an opportunity to build knowledge, strengthen partnerships and networks through sharing ideas and commitments in an effort to advance on the implementation of sustainable urban development in cities and towns around the globe.

An Ikea table with some cable access holes cut in the back. On the left, a power strip and the cable modem; on the right, a Linksys router and an Airport wireless base station. And the associated power cables, network cables, etc. Above the table on the left, a Mac Mini I'm using as a development server. The point I'm most proud of with this setup: there are only two cables leading up into the table, the power cable and the coax for the cable modem. Everything else is self-contained.
