The keystone panel has all the jacks wired up to 1.5' jumpers ending in RJ45 plugs. This gives a single "panel" to plug everything in yet allows the use of multiple components. The black unit is a Belkin F5D7230-4 (version 5) which is my favorite cheap wireless router of all time. It's set up to act as only an access point, but that's reconfigurable on the fly.
The white is a Netgear gigabit 5-port switch. I've spent months looking for something else so I didn't have to give up that switch, but I've had no luck finding 10/100 gear that will run on 12v and a requirement of the project was plug-and-play power so everything needed to run on the same voltage.
My RMAd drive got back from Seagate, so now i can finally expand my ReadyNAS. I looked at the instructions online since this was the first time i'd be adding space, and it sounded straightforward. The hardest part literally was finding the screws and mounting the drive to its cage. Then i just slid it back into the NV+ and that was that. I got several FrontView popups/emails telling me what was going on, but i didn't have to do anything. A few hours later the disk was initialized and the X-RAID volume capacity was doubled. 1.5TB x 3 = 2774 GB usable space (one drive for redundancy).
