These are my plans for future expansion of my server rack, the first being my current setup (Sept, 13, 2011), the first step should happen within a month.

The arrows point the way, ate step 3 I don't know what direction I'm going to take (more space or additional server to replace the aging DL380) so it's a choose your own adventure.

In the last stage the servers are as follows (top to bottom):

Dell R310

Dell R310

Dell R510

Dell MD1200

HP DL380 G3 (have)

Supermicro custom (have)

Step one. Get Dish IP Address to use as Gateway IP Address

Broaden the network coverage and experience enhanced speed by using the Netgear routes at your homes and setting them up properly through routerlogin.net and configuring them to connect to the wireless connection securely.

When System or router resets and Dish Statistics are unavailable get new IP address as in Step one and update Step two Gateway IP Address with new Dish IP Address

Netgear JGS524 24port gigabit switch w/Jumbo Frames support.

I had an 8-port Netgear switch (GS108) that worked VERY well, but then I ran out of ports on it. Of course I don't need 24 ports, but reasoned that when I buy a home one day, I can use it as part of the backbone for the home network.

I Spy on My Own Wi-Fi

Q. How can I see who is connected to my home Wi-Fi network?

A. Depending on your interest in technical fiddling, you can see what other devices are connected to your network in several ways. For one, you could log into your wireless router’s administrative page and check its DCHP Client Table (sometimes called the DHCP Client List or Attached Devices, as some router companies use different terms) to see the roster of computers, smartphones, tablets and other gear currently connected to the wireless router.

The manufacturer’s support site or manual for your router should have instructions for logging into your router. The task is typically accomplished by typing the router’s Internet Protocol address into your web browser and logging into the page with the administrator name and password.

You can also find out the router’s I.P. address using text-based commands in Windows or OS X. One way to do this on a Windows PC is to type “cmd” in the Start menu’s Search box, open the resulting Command Prompt (cmd.exe) program and enter “ipconfig” to see the router’s address — called the Default Gateway here. On a Mac, one quick way to find the router’s I.P. address is to open the System Preferences icon in the Dock, click the Network icon and look at the number listed next to “Router.”

If that sort of thing seems like way too much work, you can also get a program or app that scans your network for connected devices. Your router maker may have its own app, like Netgear’s Genie, Linkys Connect or Apple’s AirPort Utility for iOS.

You can also find software from other developers that is designed to reveal the devices connected to your wireless network. NirSoft Wireless Network Watcher. Who’s on my WiFi for Windows and the Fing network scanner for Android and iOS are among the options.

Sophisticated network moochers may have ways of disguising themselves while snitching your bandwidth. However, if you have any suspicions — or see more devices connected than you own — consider changing your network’s password.

My netgear-Router at home

Got it on Friday. Sorry about the dodgy quality, it's rather dark where I've put it and I used the flash, which makes it look horrific. :P

Keep your netgear routers wireless network secure from default web login through routerlogin.net by any unauthorised access. The users can secure the wireless network by changing the default wireless network password as well admin password.

An old (but very good) firewall/router from Netgear

This is my current desktop setup while Im studying in the UK, away from my home desktop pc.

My Toshiba Satellite Pro U200 with its 12" screen at 1280X1024 was perfect for taking with me to work and the Uni last year, weighing only 1.8Kg. The screen was perfectly adequate for browsing/games between breaks at work and excellent on a lectureroom desk, where youre close to the laptop anw and space is needed on the desk.

However, 12" as a research pc that youll often spend 5 or more hours on, reading documents and browsing, is definetly not adequate :/

Tempted as I was of building a proper pc, I ditched the idea as I would probably play games on it all day, so I ended up with this setup:

BenQ FP222Wa 22" screen at 1680X1050 px.

Dell USB Enhanced Multimedia keyboard

Logitech V400 mouse

Logitech X210 2.1 speakers

Netgear switch

Buffalo Duo 1TB (2X500GB) Raid External

Cheap-ass case for old 100GB 2.5" HD

I use the BenQ as the primary screen, and the laptop's screen in extended desktop mode with Foobar 2000 permanently open and DisplayFusion randomly changing wallpapers, seen through Foobar 2K which is semi-trasparent. Multi-mon toolbar helps when I want to send something over there, to get it out of my way.

Unfortunately running Vista (the Toshiba sports a 1.8GHZ Core 2 Duo, and Vista is a bit heavy on it now and then), slightly customized with uxtheme dll hacks with a different theme, using rocketdock for folder/program access, launchy for quick lauching stuff, rainlendar for RSS, weather and to-do list, and finally the sidebar for notes, clock, remote desktop and CPU/Network stats.

Sorry if I bored you ;P , more detail of this setup might be posted (in Greek) on my site, www.cyprusmania.net

My home-network:

A new Linksys WRT160N and two Cisco Catalyst 2501.

Other parts of my network (not shown): Cisco 1924A Switch, a Powerline-Bridge and some small Netgear Routers. :)
