I like this shot better than the house on the hill which is more directly impactful.. there's something to be said for subtlety. ^^

Similar to "The Hand of Fatima" this portrait is from the same photo session, with Laura patiently posing while I was thinking of poses that might end up being good. This one features her dark scarf.

Editing was basically the procedure I have grown to like a lot: the open source portrait with some curves and then pulling up brightness up in Gimp. I also (a bit clumsily) removed some catchlights from the softbox standing to the right.

Lessons learned: crank up the power of the light, since the images all needed to be lighted from the dark.

A small growler or bergy bit off Long Point, Twillingate, NL. I like how the bottom of the berg parallels the shoreline here.

No apologies for all the berg shots, and there may even be another 3-4 to come yet, from that awesome weekend in Twillingate ;)

Scanned Slide - This one is an oldie from film days but I have updated it. The background is not sand but rock.

My photo stream was looking a little dark, so I thought I would soften it up a bit!

Nestled among the farms and rural backroads of Wyoming County is the old Rolling Hills Asylum. This site open in 1827 as the Genesee County Poorhouse - a place that was home for "orphans, destitutes, mentally handicapped, and criminals." Places such as this were common in the late 19th century and early 20th century.

The site changed purposes during the middle 20th century, with an infirmary added in 1938. The 1960s saw the site become the Genesee County Nursing Home but would close its doors in 1978 for various reason.

Rolling Hills Asylum is said to be haunted - just look at the place! The facility has been featured on various ghost hunting television shows and has even been used as a film location. today, this site is used as a haunted attraction, with organized ghost hunts and tours occurring frequently.

I took this shot in a small Colorado town called Marble. It was a beautiful autumn day and when I came across this red cabin on the side of a pond nestled in among the colorful trees at the base of a mountain I had to get out of the car and take a shot.
