Some more green....
This is the bud of a Nigella, I'm not sure of the exact species but I suspect it's Nigella damascena, in one reference I read that the seeds could be used as a spice and in another it said that the seeds were poisonous so I'm not sure what to believe!
What a spot for a bench, by the river and nestled between two very fine trees.

Living the dream Finish style.
Sunrise and sunset blend into one this far north. At about 10am the sky starts to go pink, that lasts for about two hours then it just seamlessly blends into the sunset. You never actually see the sun !!!
I picked my Roses on Saturday to protect them from the extreme heat Melbourne has suffered through the last 3 days. But I missed this bud from my Yellow Rose. So today I picked it before the storm struck (yes Melbourne had a hail storm today after 37 degrees C) and nestled it amongst the pale pink, more open blooms. 500,000 Victorians are without power as several large transmission towers crumpled in the storm, whilst several bush fires are burning out of control. All the best to our emergency services. It is definitely Crazy Tuesday here today. HCT
An old farmhouse nestled near the barren hills in South Australia . At the end of summer the ground is parched dry and I wondered how many years the early settlers must have worked in such an inhospitable landscape. This farmhouse was featured in a Midnight Oil album .
I love a theme like this week's, when we had to photograph one thing on top of another thing, because it has endless possibilities. That's also its biggest challenge, of course. What to choose? As often happens, I tried a number of subjects, but in the end opted for this one. I've no idea why really. Perhaps I just like feathers. :)
For this week's Macro Mondays group theme, On Top. The bird feeder is about ¾" high, including the hoop.
My first of year Wood Duck sighting and a visual delight!
"O birds, your perfect virtues bring,
Your song, your forms, your rhythmic flight,
Your manners for your heart’s delight,
Nestle in hedge, or barn, or roof,
Here weave your chamber weather-proof,
Forgive our harms, and condescend
To man, as to a lubber friend,
And, generous, teach his awkward race
Courage, and probity, and grace!"

It wasn’t peak color in this section of the the Rush Creek drainage, but I like this scene of willows, aspens, and conifers seemingly nestled between Reversed Peak and Carson Peak.
Another glorious evening in our new accommodations. The hills are alive in the evening with the glow from the setting sun. All this while other accommodations lay nestled in the foothills of the mountains.
A stunning half-timbered house nestled between two contrasting buildings—its ornate facade and traditional charm stand out like a quiet poem in the heart of the city. A celebration of heritage framed by modernity.
