COMOX HARBOUR (or PORT AUGUSTA) has provided shelter for ocean travellers and marine explorers for centuries.
It has been known by many names, but it was best known as “The Land of Plenty” by the local K’ómoks First Nation, who lived here for centuries before European explorers arrived. The well-known “Beaver” was one of the early exploration ships that made marine history.
The boats and ships came to the Comox Valley for many reasons; to explore, to trade, to survey, to work, and like many today, to rest and enjoy the beauty of the area.
Buy fish and seafood direct from the fishermen at the Comox Valley Harbour Authority! When the fishing boats come in, it’s time to feast on the large variety of species available from the cool ocean waters of British Columbia.
Common species sold at Fisherman Wharf include a variety of salmon, tuna, shrimp, cod, halibut, lingcod, and prawns. Come down and support our local fishermen and purchase wild seafood fresh off the boat.

We did not enjoy Geneva. We would have loved to have toured CERN, but they make that so difficult we didn't even try. So we showed up for the tour here at the UN -- probably Geneva's biggest tourist attraction -- and discovered that it was closed to visitors. Then we went to the Patek Phillipe museum. Once burned, twice shy: we carefully checked its website to make sure the listed hours were still good. Didn't help: we got there and discovered a sign on the door saying they were closed until the afternoon. Didn't have any problems like this in the German-speaking part of Switzerland! And didn't help that all of this was in the pouring rain. Anyway, this is all we saw of the Palais des Nations.
The United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) in Geneva, Switzerland, is one of the four major offices[a] of the United Nations where numerous different UN agencies have a joint presence. The main UNOG administrative offices are located inside the Palais des Nations complex, which was originally constructed for the League of Nations between 1929 and 1938.
Besides United Nations administration, the Palais des Nations also hosts the offices for a number of programmes and funds such as the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (ECE).
The United Nations and its specialized agencies, programmes and funds may have other offices or functions hosted outside the Palais des Nations, normally in office spaces provided by the Swiss Government.
UN specialised agencies and other UN entities with offices in Geneva hold bi-weekly briefings at the Palais des Nations, organized by the United Nations Information Service at Geneva.
UNOG produces an annual report where it lists all major events and activities that happened through a year.
Well I'm back from a quick two-day stint at the Disney World with tons of great photography. It goes without saying that much of this great stuff wouldn't of happened if it wasn't for the folks at WDWphotography.com for arranging a photowalk week at the mouse house. One which had many photo-loving disney fans and some fellow flickrites roaming the lands searching for new and exciting ways to capture what makes Walt Disney World one-of-a-kind. I've met a lot of really great people, some i've been looking forward to meet as well as some new faces. I also met disney professionals Bob Desmond, Alain Boniec, and Lee McKee. Each one with -*decades* worth of experience capturing (and they are still capturing) all that magic that is Disney. They were very excited to meet us and told us lots of great stories while working for the mouse and shared their work. I particularly enjoyed chatting with Lee. He shared some really great photoshop tips and put together a large collection of great work he's done himself and with Alain.
Afterwards the group went to shoot Illuminations and the special Holiday edition of Illuminations. After the meet I ran to my car on the lot and came back to set up at the one location I had to re-do..the fountains of nations. The fountain itself is a wonderful base for long exposure but to combine it with fireworks is like that cherry on top it needs. So after waiting 20 minutes in the freezing Orlando weather that night, the wind was blowing around and my hands and fingers losing all sorts of feeling. I stayed there taking numerous shots as the show went on. This was one of the best shots i grabbed from the holiday version of Illuminations. This location was quiet. you could barely hear the music at the World showcase atop the constant flow of the fountain so I had to pay real close attention to the rockets as they flew up the pitch dark sky so I can hit the shutter at the right time.

Bridge connecting three medieval kingdoms in a rare time of peace. The bridge is constructed over the Marahan River which separates 3 very distinct landscapes. Even though it was a time of peace, each kingdom heavily guarded their border in case any country tried to break the peace.
This was displayed this past weekend at Brickworld in Wheeling, IL.
Enjoy!

"In seventeen and eighty two
Above this nation's skies so blue
The eagle took a maiden flight
For liberty and human right.
Immortalized upon the seal
Native arrows it does wield
Symbolizing might and strength
An olive branch for peace at length."

I was inspired by Nation's Pride - a fictional propaganda film from Inglourious Basterds by Quentin Tarantino. I needed a tower from Normandy to my other build. :) It turnes out that the tower in the film is in fact the town hall tower from Gorlitz, at Polish border.
The Disney Imagineers are masters -- taking a few simple elements such as light, water and sound and creating one of the most beautiful "attractions" -- the Innovention Fountains located in Innoventions Plaza in Epcot's Future World.
The magical fountains have been part of Epcot since opening day. In fact, as a symbolic gesture of international cooperation and understanding, representatives from 22 countries each poured a gallon of water from their homeland into the fountain.
Student Nations are regional student associations at a university. A similar phenomena, outside northen Europe, are the fraternities at American universities, but it's imperfect comparison. The nation system was once a widespread concept in Europe, but now they only exist by some degree in Sweden and Finland.
This building is inspired by Norrland Nation in Uppsala, where I am quite involved. I tried to recreate a scene from the early 1900s. The scene captures a typical day of student life with alcohol, love, an infamous horse incident, fencing and so on.

I had the privilege to visit the beautiful community of Mitaanjigamiing First Nation today. I arrived alittle early so I drove around the community and stood by the lake. It was a calm and peaceful view.
