In Canada, the First Nations (French: Premières Nations) are the predominant indigenous peoples in Canada south of the Arctic Circle. Those in the Arctic area are distinct and known as Inuit. The Métis, another distinct ethnicity, developed after European contact and relations primarily between First Nations people and Europeans.[2] There are 634[3] recognized First Nations governments or bands spread across Canada, roughly half of which are in the provinces of Ontario and British Columbia.

Under the Employment Equity Act, First Nations are a "designated group", along with women, visible minorities, and people with physical or mental disabilities. First Nations are not defined as a visible minority under the Act or by the criteria of Statistics Canada.

North American indigenous peoples have cultures spanning thousands of years. Some of their oral traditions accurately describe historical events, such as the Cascadia earthquake of 1700 and the 18th-century Tseax Cone eruption. Written records began with the arrival of European explorers and colonists during the Age of Discovery, beginning in the late 15th century. European accounts by trappers, traders, explorers, and missionaries give important evidence of early contact culture.[9] In addition, archeological and anthropological research, as well as linguistics, have helped scholars piece together an understanding of ancient cultures and historic peoples.

Although not without conflict, Euro-Canadians' early interactions with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit populations were less combative compared to the often violent battles between colonists and native peoples in the United States.

Shiprock (Navajo: Tsé Bitʼaʼí, "rock with wings" or "winged rock"[4]) is a monadnock rising nearly 1,583 feet (482.5 m) above the high-desert plain of the Navajo Nation in San Juan County, New Mexico, United States. Its peak elevation is 7,177 feet (2,187.5 m) above sea level. It lies about 10.75 miles (17.30 km) southwest of the town of Shiprock, which is named for the peak.

Governed by the Navajo Nation, the formation is in the Four Corners region and plays a significant role in Navajo religion, myth, and tradition. It is located in the center of the area occupied by the Ancient Pueblo People, a prehistoric Native American culture of the Southwest United States often referred to as the Anasazi. Shiprock is a point of interest for rock climbers and photographers and has been featured in several film productions and novels. It is the most prominent landmark in northwestern New Mexico.

An injury to a climber in late March 1970 (American Alpine Journal 1971 accident report) caused the Navajo Nation to ban rock climbing not only on Shiprock but all over the Navajo Nation. The Navajo Nation announced that the ban was "absolute, final and unconditional", and was due to "the Navajo's traditional fear of death and its aftermath, such accidents and especially fatalities often render the area where they occur as taboo, and the location is sometimes henceforth regarded as contaminated by evil spirits and is considered a place to be avoided." Like most of the South Pacific nations, Vanuatu consists of a number of islands. One of the most visited of these islands is Efate Island.

Efate Island is not only home to the country’s capital, Port Vila, but also home to one of the best blue lagoons in the world.

So as a visitor to this scenic nation, it only makes sense to leave, even for a day, the bustling city of Port Vila and take a trip to the spectacular Vanuatu Blue Lagoon, which is just an hour-and-a-half drive from the city.

The Seneca Nation

We went on an overnight trip down to Atlanta. Attending the Industrial Nation presents Cold Waves 2025 at The Masquerade (Hell ). Bands on the line-up were: Lead Into Gold, Clock DVA and Front Line Assembly. We stayed at Aloft Downtown Atlanta.

Our dog, Rosey accompanied us on our ATL adventure. On the way down to ATL, we stopped at the Buc-ee's Calhoun location in Adairsville, GA. ( we also stopped again on our way back home ) Once we made it into the city, we checked into our hotel room before the show.

Ended up Ubering over to the venue. Didn't have to wait in line ( much at all ). I got a High Noon seltzer and found a spot in front of the mixing board. They were playing Autechre's Tri Repetae ++ over the PA before the show.

The 1st band to take the stage was Lead Into Gold ( Paul Barker ). Then the 2nd band was Clock DVA. After a short time, Paul Barker came out to the mercy booth and was signing vinyl and posing for selfies. I purchased his latest album, "Knife The Ally" on vinyl and he signed it and my vinyl copy of "Age of Reason" ( his 1st album ) as we chatted. Then we got someone in line to take a couple photos. Then I went back to my spot and watched the rest of Clock DVA's set. I got a 2nd High Noon seltzer and found a closer spot closer to the stage. The last band to perform for the evening was Front Line Assembly. They played a set list of their Wax Trax! era albums. ( even played one of the Cyberaktif track, "Nothing Stays" as their Encore ) After the show, I got an Uber back to the hotel room. We stayed up for a bit and watched The Big Bang Theory on Nick-at-Nite. Got up after 9am, gathered our stuff, and checked out. Got on the road taking a more casual drive. Making a couple pit stops along the way.
