A month ago, I posted an image of this chess board, and said I would post another one later, because to me, it's just such a beautiful set. This one was taken with my 100mm macro lens and I used focus stacking.
I'm back from our time away and will do my best to catch up on your latest images. We had a lovely time with family and friends.

My first attempt in using water splash effects with photoshop. Off course I had to take another mythical creature..I just 'love' Fantasy.:)
This work by sculptor Antoine Coysevox dates from 1688. It represents Castor and Pollux who were heroes of Greek mythology. They were twins, fraternal twins in fact.
Their story is touching. The two brothers have the same mother, Leda. Castor is the son of a mortal, the king of the city of Sparta, in Greece, while Pollux is the son of Jupiter. But one day, Castor is murdered and sent to the Underworld. Pollux then asked Jupiter to make Castor a god. Jupiter refused, but offered him to stay every other day in the Underworld with his brother and every other day with him on Mount Olympus. Finally, transported to the sky, they became the Gemini constellation.
On the sculpted work, this explains the two torches held by Pollux, one raised in the air and the other lowered towards a small altar. Next to Pollux, on a pedestal, Cybele, the goddess of the Earth, symbolizes the alternative place of stay of the two brothers.

Sur l’œuvre sculptée, ceci explique les deux torches que tient Pollux, l’une élevée en l’air et l’autre abaissée vers un petit autel. À côté de Pollux, sur un socle, Cybèle, la déesse de la Terre symbolise le lieu alternatif du séjour des deux frères.

Just after the seasons changes on the spring equinox, feeling the fresh new season brush along your skin, the warm light fill your eyes, one should take a moment to observe the changes around you. Some significant, some small, but persistent. For the humble landscape photographer, we look for the light, a never ending quest. Most days we let go without a thought, but sometimes it calls to us when nothing should be on the horizon. A beginner may ignore those feelings deep down, even the old veterans may yet ignore the call. Those of us who venture out looking for what the world has to offer though, we’re often given a treat, something remarkable. A light shown deep into our landscapes as if pulled from fantasy books of yore, something truly mythic in proportion. The relief of the warmth, the excitement of the change from the cold and dreary to the warm and serene. For many the change is slow, barely noticeable, but for the light seekers, it’s furiously quick, like a dragon from fantasy.

This photo was taken while approaching Kalu Vinayak enroute Roopkund which is a Hindu Shrine dedicated to Lord Ganesh at an altitude of 14200 feet in Indian state of Uttarakhand, often referred to as the "Devbhumi" (literally 'Land of the Gods').

Hound Tor abounds in stories of ghost dogs and a roaming great black hound. It is said to have inspired Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes story The Hound of the Baskervilles
The Galapagos Land Iguana resembles the mythical creatures of the past-dragons with long tails, clawed feet and spiny crests. Land Iguanas have a spiky dorsal crest which runs along the neck and back. They are heavily bodied with thick back legs and smaller front legs.
Land Iguanas have a short blunt head and pleurodont teeth (Having the teeth attached by their sides to the inner side of the jaw, as in some lizards). Its tail is quite a bit longer than its trunk. In reality, these harmless lizards are alive today, but endangered in their own native land.
We went to the newest exhibit of Bryn Oh's work, a marvelous collection of mythical creatures. Part of the experience is a 'gacha' where you can get random right or left parts of beasts and combine them. Of course, you take a chance (all of 75L that goes to the artist, anyway) and we ended up with 4 or 5 right sides and only 2 lefts. But, two rights can make something right, and here's ours.
Visit Mythical Beasts in Immersiva to see the new work. The opening party is this weekend.

An image from a distant past, a mélange of memories.
This artwork is based on a picture I drew as a kid in growing up in China some thirty years ago. I no longer have the picture, but I recreated it from memory with some embellishments including adding the different layers of mountains, which is the main technical spotlight of this creation. The light nougat sky and the coral sun are reminiscent of warm and hazy bygone times.
