Our theme this week for Macro Mondays was "My Closest." We were asked to get as close as we could and show measurement at the same time. My subject is an earring. HMM!

This is a tiny (the marks on the ruler say 5mm) watch cog. (MM not imperial)

Placed on a metal ruler, you can see the size compared to the markings and the depth of the ruler itself. Had to use extension tubes on top of my usual 90mm macro to get in this close. I even used a tripod instead of hand held.

(Going to be interesting to see how may tags get autocorrected to My Closet as mine tried too!)

Macro Mondays, theme: "My Closest"

A gold-sequined lace was wrapped around a black ruler. The markings on the ruler (defocused) are 1 mm apart.

To get this magnification, a vintage Nikkor 50 mm - f/1.4 lens was reverse-mounted on the camera using a reversal ring and two 27.5 mm extension tubes. The aperture was set to f/1.4.

Macro Mondays: My closest

The challenge is to get as close as you possibly can and to include a visible indication of size by placing your subject on/by a ruler, grid or graph paper. In this case, a tiny heart sprinkle on a ruler.

Earring approx 1/2 cm across. I totally forgot I had an extension tube I could have used !

This is yet another "fève", from my mother's treasure box. It is probably the finest and loveliest of her collection.

For Macro Mondays the theme is 'closest'. I used the tip of a small Orgonite pyramid here.
