A footnote about the Fuji X100f and interestingly I’ve not found it the best of cameras until last Saturday. I’ve owned the camera for over one year and always considered it a mistake. So what’s change? Over that year I’ve watched many of videos singing it’s praises banging on about all the film effects you can get but frankly I got fed up with trying all these options of film simulations which never looked right to me. So giving it one last try on Saturday using only the most basic setting shooting in Raw using my very budget editing software it began to sing. I was genuinely shocked at the quality of the Gingerlille shot and the quality it gave me. So because of its size and weight it could become my go to street camera.

Last year my friends Martin and Pauli bought an old victorian house in Seattle. The house was owned by an old music teacher. As the story goes she was incredibly hard on her students, using very old methods of punishment if correct time was not kept. Martin found this picture in the attic last week.
This year is my first time contributing to one photo every week and I must admit it has been a steep learning curve....I find it a real challenge to think of what I would like to produce and then I have to orchestrate it (no pun intended)! It is encouraging me to be more creative and this week was no exception. However, this time I actually like it and for once am pleased. I hope the weeks will get a little easier for me as I start to improve with my thought process and composition.

I always wanted to learn how to play the guitar when I was younger, and my mother said " you have to wait" as you can see I'm still waiting.
Clara Bull of Andover, Kansas, used this business card to advertise the music lessons she offered in the early 1880s. Her name appeared in various newspapers during that time (see below).
Clara Bull,
Music Teacher, Andover, Kansas.
Terms: $10 for Term of Twenty-four Lessons.
"Miss Ota Johns of Pleasant and Miss Clara Bull of Sedgwick county were entertaining callers Saturday. Miss Bull has been teaching music in Pleasant."
—Augusta Republican (Augusta, Kansas), Wed., Sept. 20, 1882, p. 3.
"Miss Clara Bull, Andover" was one of the "Successful Teachers" in a "list of successful applicants at the teacher's examination of July 31st and August 1st."
—El Dorado Republican (El Dorado, Kansas), Aug. 22, 1884, p. 3.
"Miss Clara Bull will instruct the youth of Alhambra this winter. We hope she will be as successful in this as she has been in music teaching."
—Augusta News (Augusta, Kansas), Oct. 9, 1884, p. 8.
Typefaces: Ringlet ("Clara Bull"), Lady Text ("Music Teacher"), and Program ("Andover, Kansas").
Thanks to Florian Hardwig for identifying and dating the typefaces (see his comment below and discussion of Clara Bull, Music Teacher business card at Fonts In Use). Since Lady Text was issued in 1884, Clara Bull's card must date to that year or later.
To be like him, to sing, astound,
I listen to the deep, warm sound
Upon his lap I watch and yearn
I beg him teach me, beg to learn
He smiles broadly, laughing low
He takes my hand in his rough own
We strum a note, he taps his toe
In rhythm to the stumbling tune

Impromptu music lesson, but this is not something you pick up in a few minutes.
The little boy tried the mouth piece first, then the chanter.
He did his best, but to no avail.
Ten out of ten for trying though.
More CANDIDS will follow as and when.
What to do on a down pouring Saturday, apart from building a Ark! .... Go for a drive down to Berry! Plenty of shops to keep everyone entertained with interests for all ages. I found a shop that peeked my interest, and hanging on the wall was a guitar that stood out from the rest.

What's the Best Age To Start Music Lessons?
Here's an amazing fact: did you know that Brahms wrote his first symphony when he was forty years old? It's true.
Andrea Bocelli practiced law until his mid-thirties, and finally became a best-selling artist at the age of fourty-one.
It's a scientific fact that you become smarter the minute you start learning music. A 2003 harvard study revealed that the brains of adult musicians had a larger volume of gray matter than the brains of non-musicians.
Never picked up an instrument? Don't worry - a beginner piano or violin student can learn to play a simple song on their instrument in as little as one lesson.
You can start learning guitar, or singing no matter where you are in life. The most important thing is getting started.
