Their mirrored counterparts from the other universe were night-and-day different than they were. Of course, I am thinking of the classic Star Trek episode of Mirror, Mirror about a mirror universe.

I had seen and admired photos of this artwork of LEDs and panels but I did not realize it was exhibited here at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. until I stumbled on it. On second thought, where else would it be?

The Crawick multiverse
These standing stones are a recent work done by a landscape artist at a former mine.
Me, Tracey, and Herbie had a good walk around this site. At one point (not in this shot) it gets quite steep.
There’s also a decent car park, toilets, and cafe.
There was a coach full of people arrived when we were there too, but the site is huge so we didn’t meet them.
We did meet a friendly Scottish man that was with his disabled wife. He was a dyed in the wool Hamilton Academical fan… so we had a good chat about domestic and international football.
The only other person we met was a guy about 20 yo that told us about a viaduct that we’d be able to see if we walk to the top. We did!
I asked the guy in the cafe how to pronounce ‘Sanquhar’ and it’s Sanker.

Timing is everything, wandering around the playa.
Fragility was a beautiful art piece about the times of current being by Artist JudiLynn. Taken at Burn2 Multiverse (Octoburn) 2020. I randomly met one of her friends who came to Burn2 to explore her art build.

I love unusual landscapes. This isn't one of those honey trap locations. It seems to have failed to capture the imagination of the wider public. Indeed, having wanted to go there for so long I was underwhelmed on the day I finally saw it for the first time. Perhaps in other light, or snow, it would be more interesting. Or if I had chanced upon a pagan festival being celebrated on that day. But save for some distant sunbeams, it was a dull sky and very muddy underfoot. Is it worth going? Are you a creative photographer up for a challenge or one of those fair weather togs who demands a ready made 'boom' shot?
Crawick Multiverse
This stunning site has many dramatic landforms depicting some of the marvels of the universe. An inspirational vision of land artist, cultural theorist and landscape designer Charles Jencks. This is a view from one of the highest points and shows the Multiverse with the mounds of the Milky Way and Andromeda. Near Sanquhar, Dumfries and Galloway.
Some deep bodies of water reflect space. Others also reflect time.
As a kid, one of my favorite pastimes was to drop pebbles in our backyard pond and watch resulting ripples travel the surface. Ripples fascinated me –they still do. To watch them ardently is to watch the flow of time… flowing undulatingly never to return to the old moment… bending light and simmering the reflection as if it has its own gravitational power. I learned how to alter their speed… yeah, control time, if you will. Watching the ripples intently with all my attention would slow them down (it took them ‘much longer’ to travel to the end of the pond), while letting my thoughts wonder would speed them up. Sometimes, ripples originating from two independent incident (in time or space) would collide silently, and geometrically, creating traveling rhombuses and parallelograms of all kinds. Occasionally, when a hungry duck bobbed its head in and out of water, concentric rings of ripples would be generated where each wave would be followed by another… a multiverse of time chasing time!
I shot the above image more out of habit than any scenic compulsion. The sky only had dark wet clouds and no siren’s colors. The scene was nice, but the light was not ‘epic’. Therefore, this image languished in its (perceived) ordinariness for almost two years. But tonight, wanting to process something related to reflection (don’t know why), I pulled this image out. Processing this image took me back to my childhood ripples… those old memories of trembling reflections in the water, traveling rhombuses, and the dunking duck creating a multiverse of moments chasing each other.
Some deep bodies of water reflect time. Others antedate them.
The reference was a piñata cake stuffing. I love the colors, the shapes, the light and shadows. Digital Procreate painting.
The Multiverse light sculpture by Leo Villareal is on display at the moving walkway at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. It is one of the coolest light shows that I have seen. The 40,000 light emitting diodes are constantly changing patterns as you move down the walkway between the East and West Gallery. Unfortunately, will only be there until November 2009. It would make a great permanent addition to the gallery.
