The magician shows a pair of adult foam rabbits. He explains one is a daddy rabbit and one is a mommy rabbit. He takes one and puts it into the spectator's hand which is closed into a fist without seeing what is in the hand. The magician puts the other rabbit into his own hand, but when the hand is opened, the rabbit has vanished...and when the spectator opens her hand, there are two rabbits in there. The rabbit from the magician's hand has apparently transported into the closed fist of the spectator. The effect is repeated, with the same results. The third time when the trick is done, when the spectator opens her hand, not only are there the two adult rabbits, but there are also six baby rabbits!

Putting the kissbots together is a tedious task. Parts include transducers, solenoids, tiny microphones, receptors, a spring system, and lots of wires.

Kissbots are a single-minded, single-use bot. We have to work hard for them, applying lipstick, setting their catch, making the kiss sounds that light them up as they count to the prime number that triggers them. And then? They fall over, adding a kiss print to the collective array, generating a paper output of all that work.

wow was it bright with the sun bouncing off all that snow. Jess and I drove to the other side of Mt Hood and went snowshoeing along the White River. A fantastically beautiful day! There were tons of people at the Sno-Park but most of them were sledding on one of the many great sledding hills nearby. Within half a mile the crowds petered out.

London Design Festival has collaborated with Waugh Thistleton Architects, the American Hardwood Export Council and ARUP to create MultiPly, an interactive modular maze-like installation in The Sackler Courtyard at the V&A.
This pavilion will delve into two of the current global challenges – housing and climate change - and will present the fusion of modular systems and a responsible choice of materials as a vital solution.
This three-dimensional permeable structure will be built out of a re-usable panel system made with 60 cubic metres of American Tulipwood, and it will explore ways in which modular architecture can be developed and enjoyed. “The structure will lead people a merry dance up and down staircases and across bridges exploring space and light,” says Andrew Waugh. “The experience will provide previously unseen framed glimpses of the V&A and the courtyard below.”

San Bernardino County is home to six off-highway vehicle recreation sites regulated by the Bureau of Land Management. That fact alone made the Glen Helen Raceway prime real-estate to discuss the 3Rs of Explosives Safety at Formerly Used Defense Sites during a Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series event Aug. 4-5.
“We’re here to talk to the public about the FUDS initiative, and certainly to spread our safety message,” said Suneeta Sahgal, Los Angeles District FUDS project manager. “But, we also gather valuable information from these fans.”
Participants are asked to take a brief tablet-computer based survey that provides information on what types of outdoor activities they use public lands for and where they may have seen ordnance or evidence of military use.
Many of these motorsports events are held on or near FUDS sites. This location is part of the former California-Arizona Maneuver Area, where Gen. George S. Patton, Jr. used approximately 12 million acres of southeastern California, southwestern Arizona, and a small portion of southern Nevada to prepare a million troops for desert warfare.
“This is the second event I’ve worked and I’m amazed at how many people report seeing munitions,” added Sahgal. "And I’m really pleased they take the time to notify us; they also seem to be aware about the potential for harm from WWII munitions."
There are as many as 10,000 potential FUDS sites across the Nation and its territories. The program consists of sites used by the military prior to October 1986. According to the USACE FUDS website, the program has spent or obligated $5.8 billion through fiscal year 2012 and expects to spend another $8 billion (based on 2012 dollars) to complete the project.
