a newer multiplex with an IMAX to boot. nice to see some classic style retrofitted into a new building, the lettering is a bit hard to read and the lack of neon is a shame.

Yup. I've just started playing with the 4 digit 7-segment display I recieved the other day. I have concluded that without a serial interface I have limited options, beeing a 16 channel demux chip. Just think it might just not work all that well... Oh well, at least I get to play around

Vainas del culmo deciduas, trapezoidales, inicialmente polvorientas, finamente blancas, glabras, arqueadas asimétricamente, ápice inclinado a lo largo del lado externo; aurículas muy pequeñas a discretas, setas orales escasas; lígula 1–1.5 mm, irregularmente dentada; hoja decidua, erecta, estrechamente triangular, base casi tan ancha como el ápice de la vaina, abaxialmente con pelos marrones dispersos, rígidos, opacos, adaxialmente escabrosos, ápice acuminado. Hojas 5–26 por rama final; lámina de la hoja abaxialmente pálida, glauco, verde adaxialmente brillante, lineal, 1.6–16 × 0.3–1.6 cm, abaxialmente densamente pubescente, adaxialmente glabro. Pseudoespiguillas solitarias o varias agrupadas en los nodos de las ramas con flores, de lineal a lineal-lanceoladas, de 3–6 cm; profilazas ca. 3,5 mm, 2 quillas, quillas cilioladas; brácteas gemíferas usualmente 1 o 2, ovadas a estrechamente ovadas, 4–7.5 mm, glabras, 9–13-nervadas, ápice obtuso o agudo; floretes (3–) 5–13, los medios fértiles; segmentos de la raquilla planos, de 4–4.5 mm, glabros. Glumas ausentes; lemma asimétrica, oblonga-lanceolada, ca. 1.8 cm, glabro, 19–21-nervado, ápice agudo; pálea linear, 1.4–1.6 cm, quillas cilioladas, 6-veteadas entre y 4-veteadas en un lado y 3-veteadas en el otro lado de las quillas, ápice subtruncado, ciliolate, con una punta fina y peluda en cada lado; Lodículas 3, anterior 2 subovadas, 2.5–3 mm, posterior estrechamente lanceoladas, 3–5 mm, márgenes glabros. Filamentos de 0.8–1 cm; anteras moradas, ca. 6 mm, penicilato del ápice. Ovario ovoide, ca. 1 mm, base con tallo ca. 1 mm, ápice engrosado e hispiduloso; estigmas 3 o número variable, ca. 5 mm, directamente exsertados desde el ápice del ovario. Cariopsis madura desconocida. Silvestre y cultivado, campos, montañas, colinas bajas, riberas. SE Asia. En iturraran se ubica en la zona 5.
Culms suberect or apically slightly drooping, 1–7 m, (0.3–) 1.5–2.5 cm in diam.; internodes 30–50 cm, thinly white powdery, distally stiffly deciduously brown or dull brown hairy, especially densely so below nodes; wall usually rather thin; nodes slightly prominent, glabrous; branching from 2nd or 3rd node up. Branches several to many, clustered, subequal or central slightly dominant. Culm sheaths deciduous, trapezoid, initially thinly white powdery, glabrous, asymmetrically arched, apex slanted along outer side; auricles very small to inconspicuous, oral setae few; ligule 1–1.5 mm, irregularly dentate; blade deciduous, erect, narrowly triangular, base nearly as wide as sheath apex, abaxially with scattered, stiff, dull brown hairs, adaxially scabrous, apex acuminate. Leaves 5–26 per ultimate branch; leaf blade abaxially pale glaucous, adaxially bright green, linear, 1.6–16 × 0.3–1.6 cm, abaxially densely pubescent, adaxially glabrous. Pseudospikelets solitary or several clustered at nodes of flowering branches, linear to linear-lanceolate, 3–6 cm; prophylls ca. 3.5 mm, 2-keeled, keels ciliolate; gemmiferous bracts usually 1 or 2, ovate to narrowly ovate, 4–7.5 mm, glabrous, 9–13-veined, apex obtuse or acute; florets (3–)5–13, middle ones fertile; rachilla segments flat, 4–4.5 mm, glabrous. Glumes absent; lemma asymmetrical, oblong-lanceolate, ca. 1.8 cm, glabrous, 19–21-veined, apex acute; palea linear, 1.4–1.6 cm, keels ciliolate, 6-veined between and 4-veined on one side and 3-veined on other side of keels, apex subtruncate, ciliolate, with a fine hairy tip on each side; lodicules 3, anterior 2 subovate, 2.5–3 mm, posterior narrowly lanceolate, 3–5 mm, margins glabrous. Filaments 0.8–1 cm; anthers purple, ca. 6 mm, apex penicillate. Ovary ovoid, ca. 1 mm, base with stalk ca. 1 mm, apex thickened and hispidulous; stigmas 3 or variable in number, ca. 5 mm, directly exserted from ovary apex. Mature caryopsis unknown. Wild and cultivated, fields, mountains, low hills, riversides. SE Asia. In iturraran is located in area 5.

Ab sofort bietet die tde – trans data elektronik GmbH, führender Hersteller, Distributor und Systemanbieter von Netzwerktechnik, einen tMI Multiplexer – kurz für “tde MiniMetro CWDM-Multiplexer” – für die parallele Übertragung von bis zu 8 unabhängigen Diensten über ein einziges Faserpaar an. Der tMI Multiplexer ermöglicht auf lediglich einer halben Höheneinheit eine weit höhere Bandbreite im Vergleich zur herkömmlichen Datenübertragung mit einer Wellenlänge und erlaubt eine optimale Ausnutzung der bereits vorhandenen LWL-Infrastruktur.
Mit dem CWDM-Verfahren (Coarse Wave Division Multiplexing) wird die Leistung der vorhandenen LWL-Infrastruktur optimiert. Dazu werden Signale unterschiedlicher Wellenlängen über ein einziges faseroptisches Kabel übertragen. Die CWDM-Technologie unterstützt transparent mehrere Netzwerktopologien und Datenraten und ermöglicht auf diese Weise eine Vervielfachung der Bandbreite. Der tMI-Multiplexer wurde für das gleichzeitige Senden und Empfangen von bis zu acht Diensten mit unterschiedlichen Wellenlängen über zwei Fasern konzipiert.
“Die CWDM-Technologie ermöglicht eine optimale Ausnutzung der vorhandenen LWL Infrastruktur. Carrier müssen so beispielsweise für den Datenverkehr statt acht Faser-Paaren nur ein Faser-Paar anmieten um die gleich Menge an Daten transportieren zu können”, so André Engel, Geschäftsführer der tde – trans data elektronik GmbH.
Der tMI Multiplexer unterstützt Wellenlängen von 1271 bis 1611 mit 20 nm Abstand. Die Basisausführung besitzt vier Kanäle mit einem Erweiterungs- beziehungsweise Monitorkanal von 1260 bis 1350 nm. Die Anschlusstechnik des tMI wird von tde-trans data elektronik GmbH individuell an die vorhandene Infrastruktur des Kunden angepasst. Das 19″ Gehäuse ist mit einer halben Höheneinheit sehr platzsparend. Durch das Kaskadieren von zwei tMI Multiplexern mit unterschiedlichen Wellenlängen kann eine protokolltransparente Datenübertragung von bis zu 100 Gbit/Sekunde auf maximal 16 Kanälen pro Glasfaserpaar erreicht werden. Eine Spannungsversorgung wird nicht benötigt. Die für den Betrieb erforderlichen CWDM-Transceiver für alle gängigen Switch-Hersteller sind ebenfalls bei tde erhältlich.

One Infinite Loop?
Nope, just me temporarily hopping off-piste (or off-curriculum) at this evening's workshop.
The neat thing about a modern, multiplex's projection booth is that it is huge AND quite comfortable.
One might think each theater house has a little, dark, closet-sized room at the top with a projector and spiders dangling from the ceiling. Quite the contrary...
This booth is exactly the same size, shape, and dimension as the lower (public) level hallways and entryways - it mirrors the theater level.
It has 17 projectors, two restrooms, a drinking fountain, a separate office and storage, climate and lighting control, work desks for building and tearing down films, and access to power and sound systems. It's quite remarkable.
It's all low-light conditions during times when films are playing in those sections of hallways. However, it's still bright enough where one could read start and stop times on printouts, and see from end-to-end. It's a bit noisy with all the fans and projectors running, plus hearing localized sound from each project's reference speaker, but all in all it's a world all its own up there.
