Since I love colour, I really enjoyed hunting out possible subjects for this week's theme. In the end I settled on this little porcelain frog (by Halcyon Days), which I've had for about 30 years. To get an idea of scale, the whole frog is about 2 inches high.
For the one I love.
Lovely mixed bouquets of roses.
Have a wonderful day, filled with love and thank you for your visit, M, (*_*)

La Mosaïque Sculpture (Fountain)
Date: 1981
Artiste: Michel Deverne
Art integrated into Architecture, is the creed of Michel Deverne, born in 1927.
He conceived for La Defense the “Reliefs of the room of exchanges of the RER” with the sculptural decoration of the ventilation chimneys, designed by Andre-Prothin. The mosaic which accompanies the buildings by the Mirrors (1981) is also a beautiful illustration of the mixture between art and town planning: a surface of 3000 m2, creating an aesthetic effect of four cylindrical volumes intended to mask the flues ventilating, the exits of elevators and carparks becoming a sculptural work of art.

Fishing nets have been used widely in the past, including by stone age societies.
The oldest known fishing net is the net of Antrea, found with other fishing equipment in the Karelian town of Antrea.
The net was made from willow, and dates back to 8300 BC.
The remnants of another fishing net dates back to the late Mesolithic, and were found together with sinkers at the bottom of a former sea.
American Native Indians on the Columbia River wove seine nets from spruce root fibres or wild grass, again using stones as weights.
For floats they used sticks made of cedar which moved in a way which frightened the fish and helped keep them together.
With the help of large canoes, pre-European Maori deployed seine nets which could be over one thousand metres long.
The nets were woven from green flax, with stone weights and light wood or gourd floats, and could require hundreds of men to haul.
Fishing nets are well documented in antiquity.
They appear in Egyptian tomb paintings from 3000 BC.
In ancient Greek literature, Ovid makes many references to fishing nets, including the use of cork floats and lead weights.
Pictorial evidence of Roman fishing comes from mosaics which show nets.
In a parody of fishing, a type of gladiator called retiarius was armed with a trident and a cast net.
In Norse mythology the sea giantess Rán uses a fishing net to trap lost sailors.
References to fishing nets can also be found in the New Testament.
Jesus Christ was reputedly a master in the use of fishing nets.
Fishing nets have not evolved greatly, and many contemporary fishing nets would be recognised for what they are in Neolithic times.
I would have that on my wall... LOL
Thank you for all your words, time, comments and faves. Very much appreciated. M, (*_*)

though it's a bit late in the day, I hope you all had a happy May 1. Our lily of the valley is not yet in flower (first time ever; it's usually there May 1 on the dot) - but there was plenty of colour in the Jardins du Rivage in Vevey, and we enjoyed a beautiful sunny day.

After trimming orchard we use tree scraps as firewood. So this billet had to go to a furnace.
I was charmed by internal colouring of this piece of wood and decided to capture its look for myself as well as to try to share my impression.
It was quite old plum-tree. Probably such various colouring was caused by fungus infection or some another illness, I don't know.

Happy fun and games.
During a pro shoot there's always some time, one model will be ready, the others still in make-up or dressing.
If you have a good rapport with your models, often they'll be up for some fun, it also de-stresses everyone, creates a very positive vibe.
You can see in the photograph that there was a lot of laughter, it's a way of unwinding (se défouler ) after a strict session of posing, good for all there, in the studio, it's hard work, c'est dure la vie de modèle !!!
I often wonder why so many want to be in that profession? Extroverts?
Mind you, we've been fortunate, not often did we have models who were a pain.
Have a FUN day, thank you, M, (*_*)

I used recycled pencils for this image as well as a recycled piece of glass bauble for the eye.
Then 'played' with each image in photoshop, assembled the lot, this is the result...
Thanks and have a colourful day, M, (*_*)

THE DAYS of COLOUR.
A Slinky is a toy pre-compressed helical spring invented by Richard James.
It can perform a number of tricks, including travelling down a flight of steps end-over-end as it stretches and re-forms itself with the aid of gravity and its own momentum,
In 1943, Richard James, a naval mechanical engineer stationed at the William Cramp and Sons shipyards in Philadelphia, was developing springs that could support and stabilise sensitive instruments aboard ships in rough seas.
James accidentally knocked one of the springs from a shelf, and watched as the spring "stepped" in a series of arcs to a stack of books, to a tabletop, and to the floor, where it re-coiled itself and stood upright.
James's wife Betty later recalled, "He came home and said, 'I think if I got the right property of steel and the right tension; I could make it walk.'"
James experimented with different types of steel wire over the next year, and finally found a spring that would ‘walk’.
Betty was dubious at first, but changed her mind after the toy was fine-tuned and neighbourhood children expressed an excited interest in it.
She dubbed the toy Slinky; meaning "sleek and graceful”.
On COLOURS...
Light and colour can influence how people perceive the area around them.
Different light sources affect how the colours of walls and other objects are seen.
Specific hues of colours seen under natural sunlight may vary when seen under the light from an incandescent (tungsten) light-bulb: lighter colours may appear to be more orange or "brownish" and darker colours may appear even darker.
Light and the colour of an object can affect how one perceives its positioning.
If light or shadow, or the colour of the object, masks an object's true contour (outline of a figure) it can appear to be shaped differently than it really is.
Objects under a uniform light-source will promote better impression of three-dimensional shape.
The colour of an object may affect whether or not it seems to be in motion. In particular, the trajectories of objects under a light source whose intensity varies with space are more difficult to determine than identical objects under a uniform light source.
Carl Jung is most prominently associated with the pioneering stages of colour psychology.
Jung was most interested in colours’ properties and meanings, as well as in Art’s potential as a tool for psychotherapy.
Colour has long been used to create feelings of cosiness or spaciousness.
However, how people are affected by different colour-stimuli varies from person to person.
There is evidence that colour preference may depend on ambient temperature.
People who are cold prefer warm colours like red and yellow while people who are hot prefer cool colours like blue and green.
A few studies have shown that cultural background has a strong influence on colour preference.
These studies have shown that people from the same region regardless of race will have the same colour preferences.
I'm ALWAYS fascinated by COLOUR!
Hope this brings a smile again, have a good day and thanks for your visit, so very much appreciated, Magda, (*_*)

I love the colours, set-up, textures, euuuhh, everything!
Just some fun with pencils/props and lights in the studio, always the same... one idea sparks off another...
I love being a creative, it is the spice of (my) life.
I cannot imagine 'not' having it...
I used recycled pencils for this image.
I cannot resist the, spotted a funky rubber to go with them, made the compositions in my head, right there!
So colourful and attractive?
The child in me. I still LOVE to write in pencil, it brings out my best handwriting!
Hope this makes you smile and have a wonderful day and thank you, as always, for your visit, so very much appreciated, Magda, (*_*)

My little granddaughter, an only child, so used to play alone, in her own world a lot, I was observing her and taking photographs of these wonderful moments.
Most of the time she was unaware of me.
Her dad was also watching her, and moved in closer the moment he thought she could hurt herself.
After the fun, we went for a huge ice-cream.
Sweet days.
Thanks and have a happy day, Magda, (*_*)
