Macro Mondays Theme: Multicolour

I struggled with this theme as bit because it's so broad, tried a few ideas and they just didn't work quite how I envisioned them. Not totally happy with this one but it will do. It's a puzzle game with different coloured shapes that fit into a grid of holes. The challenge is to fit all of them into the holes in the different patterns of colour with different levels of expertise.

For the moderators, the circles are 1.5cm in diameter.

Many thanks for all your comments and favourites, as always.

forming a flower-carpet, they are out, for sale now, all waiting for the transplant in someone’s much loved garden.

It is still early in the year, and they tremble in the chilly wind.

The flowers still quite hidden, frightened to come out.

The word primula is the Latin feminine diminutive of primus, meaning first (prime), applied to flowers that are among the first to open in Spring.

Hope this brings a bit of joy again, have a good day and thank you for your visit, so very much appreciated, Magda, (*_*)

The giraffe (Giraffa) is an African artiodactyl mammal, the tallest living terrestrial animal and the largest ruminant. It is traditionally considered to be one species, Giraffa camelopardalis, with nine subspecies. However the existence of up to eight extant giraffe species have been described, based upon research into the mitochondrial and nuclear DNA, as well as morphological measurements of Giraffa. The giraffe's chief distinguishing characteristics are its extremely long neck and legs, its horn-like ossicones, and its distinctive coat patterns. It is classified under the family Giraffidae, along with its closest extant relative, the okapi. Its scattered range extends from Chad in the north to South Africa in the south, and from Niger in the west to Somalia in the east. Giraffes usually inhabit savannahs and woodlands. Their food source is leaves, fruits and flowers of woody plants, primarily acacia species, which they browse at heights most other herbivores cannot reach. They may be preyed on by lions, leopards, spotted hyenas and African wild dogs. Giraffes live in herds of related females and their offspring, or bachelor herds of unrelated adult males, but are gregarious and may gather in large aggregations. Males establish social hierarchies through 'necking', which are combat bouts where the neck is used as a weapon. Dominant males gain mating access to females, which bear the sole responsibility for raising the young. 58272

Perfect harmony and light.

Dianthus barbatus (Sweet William) is a species of Dianthus, small Carnation, native to the mountains of southern Europe from the Pyrenees east to the Carpathians and the Balkans, with a variety in northeastern China, Korea, and south easternmost Russia.

The flowers are produced in a dense cluster of up to 30 at the top of the stems and have a spicy, clove like scent; each flower is 2–3 cm diameter with five petals with serrated edges; in wild plants the petals are red with a white base.

In the Victorian language of flowers, Sweet William symbolises gallantry.

Sweet William is a good candidate for a naturalistic garden because its nectar attracts birds, bees and butterflies.

Its flowers are considered edible...

I love them because of their unbelievable 'variety', both in colours and variegations!

They last a long time in a vase, real beauties.

All the best and thank you, M, (*_*)

AAAHHH, what would we do in a drab colourless world?

It is so very important to have colours in our lives.

THAt is why I do not understand fashion, in Winter it is black, brown beige and dark green, in Summer COLOURS???

I NEED red and yellow, pink and blue in this dark half year!

Well, for now my COLOUR-photography will have to give me what I need and our interior WITH all the flowers!!! LOL.

Have a great day and thank you for your valuable comments, M, (*_*)

Looking Close on Friday Theme: Multicoloured Abstract

This shot is pretty much straight out of the camera, just the crop and a very slight balance change. Hectic today but will try to get around to see others shots as best I can. Might struggle as Flickr seems to be playing up for me, not displaying images and had trouble uploading my picture. HLCoF!

Always appreciate your comments and favourites.

Alstroemeria, commonly called the Peruvian lily or lily of the Incas .

They are all native to South America, although some have become naturalized in USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canary Islands.

Popular in bouquets , but these colourful varieties I've found in Laurel Bank Park in Toowoomba

We all know what the ‘bad and sad’ news is EVERY day, we are bombarded with it?

All too aware of it.

Why would I want to repeat-share this?

I prefer to sprinkle some beauty, goodness, kindness and joy, we all need it.

Gerbera is a genus of ornamental plants from the sunflower family.

It was named in honour of the German naturalist Traugott Gerber.

It has approximately 30 species in the wild, extending to South America, Africa and tropical Asia.

Colours include white, yellow, orange, red, and pink.

The center of the flower is sometimes black.

Hope this brings a bit of joy again rather than Angst which I see in so many images and news, have a good day and thanks for your visit, so very much appreciated, Magda, (*_*)

The Drinker Moth caterpillar (Euthrix potatoria) is named for its habit of drinking drops of dew from the coarse grass stems on which it feeds. With its blue and yellow markings, brown hairs and orange tuffs, it is certainly a colourful creature.

For Macro Mondays theme 'Multicolour'.

I discovered this specimen in the tall grassy verge next to my house and dashed in for the camera - when I came back I couldn't spot it again. After almost 15 minutes of searching (should have gone to Specsavers), found it again, put the camera on the tripod - and lost it again! Then after several more minutes of searching (and cursing) in the tall grass, finally found it. This little caterpillar was barely 3 cm long, (but they can grow to over 6 cm) which made spotting it a challenge - must have been lucky to see it in the first place.

This is another shot taken in One Bishops Square during Open House. The building houses the offices of the law firm Allen & Overy. The architect was Foster and Partners and the building was completed in 2005.This is in the central Atrium of the building. It has an art installation that hangs down 11 floors. It comprises 200 flowers made from canvas which are triggered to open and close by hidden movement sensors, to reflect movement of any chosen environment, inside or outside the building. Their colours echo those used in the different zones of the building.

The picture was taken handheld with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20 mm lens at 13mm. 3 raw images 2EV spacing for HDR. Outputted in Photomatix using Fusion Real Estate preset for a natural look. To avoid the main features being lost in a busy image I went for selective colour to focus on the art installation using Topaz B&W Effects and a layer mask in Photoshop. I also liked the lift shaft so brought that up using a layer mask again for a selective curves adjustment and clarity using unsharp mask amount and radius 63.

Flowerworks that look like fireworks?

Yes, my burning passion for flowers, the capturing of their beauty in a thousand different ways, a wonderful challenge... everyday!

There are people who 'talk' to the flowers and plants?

Me, I just 'listen' to them, I open the wrapping, they fall open on the table and tell me.

The closer I looked the more they invited me in, to listen , yet keeping the center of the flower still very secret...

They emerged from the dark.

ALSTROEMERIA

Most of you know by now how I love 'playing' with light, a never ending beautiful challenge, food for my creative soul, which I so desperately need at the moment...

Each flower or object, most definitely people, seem to have a different 'personality' which I'm trying to capture.

Alstroemeria, the genus named after the Swedish baron Alströmer who brought them back from a trip to South America in 1753.

Also called the Peruvian Lily or Inca Lily, is a South American genus of about 50 species of flowering plants.

The flower, which resembles a miniature lily, is very popular for bouquets and flower arrangements in the commercial cut flower trade.

They have a vase life of about two weeks.

Freesia is a genus of 14-16 species of flowering plants in the family Iridaceae, native to Africa. Of the 14 species, 12 are native to Cape Province, South Africa, the remaining two to tropical Africa, one species extending north of the equator to Sudan.

both visual and fragrant pleasure...

The genus was named in honour of Friedrich Heinrich Theodor Freese (1795-1876), a German physician.

They are herbaceous plants which grow from a corm 1-2.5 cm diameter, which sends up a tuft of narrow leaves 10-30 cm long, and a sparsely branched stem 10-40 cm tall bearing a few leaves and a loose one-sided spike of fragrant narrowly funnel-shaped flowers.

Have a lovely day, M, (*_*)

Dominant males gain mating access to females, which bear the sole responsibility for raising the young. Giraffe use their 45-50 cm long prehensile tongue and the roof of their mouths in order to feed on a range of different plants and shoots. Giraffes use their dexterous tongues to sort out the nutritious leaves from spiky thorns. Fortunately, a giraffe’s tongue has thickened papillae, which helps to protect it from these vicious thorns. Additionally, thick saliva is also believed to help protect giraffe’s tongue and mouth against the defensive mechanisms of their favourite food. R_11267
