...or not.

Jerrycons are used to fetch water everywhere-but not after they have been used for Parafin-Kerosine, cooking oil, or other liquids.

It is difficult to take a photo in Uganda without having a yellow jerrycon (jellycon) in the frame to add some yellow flare. Multiuse items are normally a good thing-but it is difficult to clean these properly to fetch water (or find the time to do so).

Producing 140 hp with a 19 foot head, this turbine was built in 1921 by James F. Leffel. Installed by Frank Anglin at this site after the mill fire in 1947, it was used for approximately 7 years to make veneer for cheese boxes and to saw lumber.

This second channel, also eroded by the Boulder Flood is about 20 yards west of the new primary channel. It is roughly in the place of a small social path that runs from the South Foothills trail just past the bridge to the Four Mile Multiuse Path that connects to the east/south side of the Northbriar neighborhood.

There were some great winds and turns on the Cookstown Ontario section of the Trans Canada Trail which traveled through nature. It was a great hiking experience near Cookstown Ontario.

The trails at Estrella Mountain Regional Park are multiuse, and a lot of people like to ride horses through here. If you don't have a horse handy, you can rent a horse or join a horse tour at a group of stables next to the parking lot where we parks. This was part of a horse tour group. Sadly, they don't rent pigs.

The trail, which follows an abandoned rail line, is cut into the face of an escarpment. Off the right edge of the photo is a steep slope, capable of tree growth, but challenging to climb.

This historic bridge was an important two-way traffic bridge over the Elm Fork of the Trinity River for growing automobile traffic in Denton County in the 1920s. The bridge is one of the only two accessible iron and steel bridges in Denton County remaining in its orginal location on public land. Concrete piers and abutments were installed in early March 1922 while crews waited for the shipments of steel to arrive later that month.

The main span of the bridge is a 100-foot Pratt through-truss; east and west approach spans are Warren pony trusses 70 feet in length. Early iron bridges could only accomodate one-way traffic. The Elm Fork bridge was built for two-way traffic in response to the growing number of automobiles on the roads. Built on one of the original wagon trails leading out of Denton, the road became known as Sherman Highway, connecting Denton, Aubrey and Sanger. It also served early farms and cattle ranches in the area; some were later inundated when the river was dammed.

The bridge served traffic until 1990 when Sherman Highway (now FM 428) was widened and the bridge was bypassed. It was repurposed as a pedestrian bridge and reamins in its original location as a part of the Ray Roberts Lake State Park Greenbelt. The Greenbelt opened on National Trails Day in 1999 as a wilderness recreation area with a 20-mile multiuse trail that follows the banks of the Elm Fork of the Trinity River.
