I found this for 30 cents at a thrift store in Ohio in the late 90's. No markings. If anyone has a clue about it's origins let me know.
my collection of cupcake mugs is growing and I am super pleased with this one, its a real heavy duty shabby chic looking mug, I got it the other day whilst xmas shopping at TK Maxx. My mom bought me another one for my birthday.

YES, I have an addiction for mugs ... and these are some of my boys' mugs ... they're all from BODUM, and are very solid. (they're real mugs, not plastic) Aren't they cute or what ? (Oct. 16th 2008)

I improvised this mug cozy as a test project for the knooks in the new LeisureArts knooking kit. It worked really well!
It’s all knooked (with a totally made-up and hard to see ribbing at top and bottom and stockinette in between) apart from the little band across the top of the mug handle, which I crocheted in foundation single crochet.
The cozy is stretchy enough to slip on and off over the top of the mug without needing a fastener, and tight enough not to fall off either. It’s intentionally short at the top as I don’t really want a mouthful of yarn when I’m drinking my tea, thank you very much ;)

Tea is of course a great British tradition, though the tea plant itself comes from Asia. As can be seen, the vast majority of British people drink tea with milk. Nowadays many people, perhaps most, drink tea from a small bag in a mug such as this for convenience, but it has to be said that the best tea is served in china teacups in saucers poured from a teapot with the tea loose inside. I don't know why. It just does, though that process takes five minutes rather than the one minute in the mug above. Some prefer tea weak whilst others have it so strong a spoon will stand on its end in the cup. Well, not quite...
