Wildlife Prairie Park-Hanna City IL

It was an incredible feeling to have my feet completely covered in this wonderful mud. My feet actually felt quite heavy due to the amount of mud clinging to them!

...

The story starts around 4:15AM this morning.

Thrashing around like a fish out of water sleep

was allusive. Every hour or so I would get up

and take a short walk. Short walk you ask ?

Yes, a short walk from the bed to the front door

out onto the porch then back to bed is a short

walk, stopping along the way to drink some

water. Anyway by 4:15AM I just got up and

started getting stuff organized for our

early morning run over to the MCF.

FYI ---

Our home on the river is 550 sq feet !

It's not like you can get lost in here.

Two Nikon cameras were selected each

with a different lens. D500 is matched up

with a 70-200 2.8 VR 2 and a Nikon D300

with a Tokina 11-16 2.8 Lens.. All of this gear

has been gifted to me from a friend and from

my late brothers estate. The Tokina 11-16 2.8 is

a lot of fun to play with, and yes it is used here.

And of course you can see the D500/70-200 2.8

laying on the blue pad in front of Ms. Pumpkin Pie.

Mr Monkey the MoJo Man is off to your right being

a monkey, zipping around over there then back over

here then back over everywhere. He's a silly monkey.

Notice the black rubber floor in the sidecar, see how

wet it is ? Well here's the deal. I too am just as wet

from nose to toes from the palm oil trees bows !

They are soaking wet, and we have to pass

through thousands of them while making

our way throughout the MCF.. The said

bows thrash my face, arms and legs

depositing vast amounts of water

and spiders all over not only

me but the sidecar too.

Now here's some more info just for you.

Mr Murphy still has plenty of Murphy Traps

scattered around the mud cobra field ;-0

Luckily we made our way in and out of

the mud cobra field without using

the come-a-long, we were lucky.

61 minutes was spent in the field having

big fun and remembering Mr Boney ;-)

Once home the dogs, the scooter

and me, were all scrubbed, fed

and put to bed. Well I haven't

made it to bed yet but soon

I'll be there sawing logs ;-)

Mud on paper, folded, framed

The mud brick ruins of an early 4th century church are now surrounded by the modern city of Aqaba, Jordan. It is considered one of the oldest purpose-built churches in the world.

In a wet woodland at the bottom of Springvale, Cwmbran, someone had constructed a boardwalk to get over the extensive patches of wet mud. Someone else has demolished them across their entire length, leaving just the posts as a sort of Krypton factor challenge. Fall off and you lose your foot in the deep mud. I fell off.

A divine union of cream and chocolate. On a bed of crumbly cookies doused in butter. A wicked indulgence for all those chocolate-lovers.

Orange Sulphurs extracting the mineral salts beside the lake.

Those images were taken at Mud Lake in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Its a nature reserve in the heart of Ottawa. Its pretty impressive to see in person.

Unexpectedly found the latest wave of TWD figures today, minus the flashback Rick in his Sheriff's uniform, of course, because he is some sort of exclusive. Heaven forbid an action figure of the lead in a TV show should be as easy to find as the other characters!

Anyway, the other characters were updated figures of Michonne and Carl - nice but not essential right now - and...er...Gareth. You know, the main Terminus bad guy who appeared in about 4 episodes before being unceremoniously despatched by Rick. I can't help feeling that there were other, more central characters, that McFarlane could have made before this - Dale, Beth, Sasha, Noah, even Lori, for crying out loud!

Oh, apparently there's a new Hershel too. He has a bandana across his face....

Never mind, at least there was a new walker and they're always worth having. This one actually comes with a stand, which is a first for TWD figures. Like all the other zombie figures he's not very articulated, which is a shame, although I suppose they don't really need to be. As an ardent proponent of sexual equality, though, it would be nice to see some lady zombies!

This to me sums up all that is good and pleasurable about walking barefoot! Finding that special kind of humus rich, dark mud that stains and colours the sole. It's a true delight to feel the soft mud embrace my bare soles.
