"Message from Mary S.: The future of the Internet as we know it is at stake. The FCC is proposing rules that would kill the open Internet and create a fast lane for companies that can afford big fees and a slow dirt road for the rest of us. We're fighting back--and we're being heard. This Thursday, May 15, the FCC will meet in Washington, DC, to vote on whether or not to advance this proposal. We'll rally in DC, but we won't stop there: We'll gather at FCC offices in 24 cities to send shockwaves through the FCC bureaucracy until they restore real Net Neutrality and protect the Internet for all of us."

Move On

ABBA's "Move On" Lyrics

"They say a restless body can hide a peaceful soul.

A voyager, and a settler, they both have a distant goal.

If I explore the heavens, or if I search inside.

Well, it really doesn't matter as long as I can tell myself

"I've always tried."

Like a roller in the ocean, life is motion

Move on

Like a wind that's always blowing, life is flowing

Move on

Like the sunrise in the morning, life is dawning

Move on

How I treasure every minute

Being part of it, being in it

With the urge to move on

--------

The morning breeze that ripples the surface of the sea

The crying of the seagulls that hover over me

I see it and I hear it

But how can I explain

The wonder of the moment

To be alive, to feel the sun that follows every rain

Move on

Session description:

Social media is increasing hate, weaponizing the filter bubble, and aiding tyrants. But it doesn't have to. Eli Pariser led MoveOn.org during the Bush era, coined the phrase "filter bubble" in the bestselling book of the same name, and now leads Upworthy. In this talk, Eli Pariser shares what he's learned in nearly two decades of organizing and storytelling about how to use stories to help Davids beat Goliaths, bring people together across divides, and make the world better.

Here are the pictures from this afternoon's "We Choose to Fight: Nobody Elected Elon" MoveOn protest at the Department of Treasury.

Just based on what I saw, I'd say 1500 people came to fight back against the oppressive, dehumanizing techniques of the current administration.

I really did not want to go, and I felt so scared after the Proud Boys visits in 2020. But I could not look myself in the mirror and stand back anymore. So just like 1.0, all of these photos are available on Flickr in Creative Commons for media, influencers, and everyday people like me and you to use. Or just take and share any of these. Perhaps to the detriment of their argument, anti-war crticism has been combined with the suggestion that Bush is not working while staying on his ranch -- despite the advent of internet, satellite, fax and telephone communications -- by harping on the point that the term "vacation" has been used ("working vacation").

Receiving a petition with 150,000 signatures from MoveOn.org members who oppose restricting a woman’s right to choose. Joined here by Congressman Conyers who spoke at my press conference opposing HR 3, a radically anti-choice bill.

I can't read the title of the book that woman's holding, but she looks happy.

I’m posting these photos to commemorate the efforts made four years ago by American citizens to show the U.S. government that its people were against going to war with Iraq. This vigil was sponsored by MoveOn.org, and it took place in Balboa Park in San Diego, California. Sadly, it’s been over four years since then, and so many thousands have died, so many billions have been squandered, and so many people worldwide have been turned off by Americans. But, "It’s better to light a candle than to curse the darkness," eh?

This past Wednesday moveon.org organized for the night a candle lit vigil to be held at many locations around the nation. I went to the one that was held in Fort Lauderdale near the Federal Court Building. As you can imagine Homeland Security Police were out in force getting on anyone that even came close to the building. Because I had a camera I was asked for my identification and then had to wait for a long while to get it back while they assessed the risk I may be. The woman was being confronted by the Police was because her 2 year old child ventured too close to the building. Just so you know the building is about 10 feet from the sidewalk but it was the federal water fountain that was attracting the child and supposedly that was a huge federal no no… With the vigil being held in the evening the light was not very kind to me. I am for the most part against using flash so the shots I found good enough to post are limited.
